I know we have compared this gun to itself and others. Here is the best breakdown of the differences I have found.
http://gunsgunsguns.net/glock-30s/, I did not know that the gun was designed for the SIS branch of the LAPD, but there are some interesting things in the article.
Having had both, I knew the grip felt slimmer and shorter, turns out it is.

Yup, if you look at the lower handgrip part of the gun, you will see a little "SF" stamp on it somewhere, it has the same bottom as the 30 SF, or short frame. I have thought about getting the 30 also...at the time of purchase the 30S and the 30SF felt slightly better in my hand so I got the 30S with its slimmer slide.

Its odd to me that while I shoot the 17 better than I can the 26, I shoot the 30S better than the 21...so far anyway. Both are great shooters. Nice article.

I found that after shooting these and everything I could get my hands on for 40+ years, that the 30S is just a pleasant gun to shoot. That is the best description, I could come up with, it doesn't bite, kick or do anything in an annoying manner. It is very accurate for combat range, and is small enough to conceal with more than enough capacity, 11 rounds, and 14 with the 21 mag.
It is what it is, "which I rarely say", but in this case it encompasses many of the features that most of us look for in a handgun made for concealed carry. It may not be the best at any one thing, but it is so good at all things that whatever it lacks in individual excellence it makes up for in general usability and reliability.

I have never shot the 30S, but I have owned the 36 for 4 or 5 years now, and it is an amazing pistol. It shoots better than my XDs, though it is not nearly as comfortable to carry.

It's a clunker, but I love the little piggy.
