Not your usual police-trade-in pistols

That's actually a pretty good deal for an SV. Kinda ticked that I have a deposit down on a STI DVC Limited with Brazos that according to STI likely won't be delivered until August. :(

If not for that I'd probably get one of these.

Beverly Hills cops ....

From what I know, the Beverly Hills CA police dept still issues the S-A XD series; .40 & 9x19mm.

I read about 4 years ago the NC Alcohol Beverage Control agents had Kimber 1911a1 .45acp sidearms but the LE agents had so many problems with the Kimber 1911a1 pistols they finally got rid of them. The sworn agents used Kimbers that ran about $1200.00 each too, :uhoh: .

"Alcohol Beverage Control" huh? Must be some seriously hard drinkers down there. Are they still busting up stills or what?

A double-stack 1911 holding 18+ rounds of .40S&W, that likely sold for well over the current price per unit.. I'm curious what agencies have issued these..

FBI HRT, Les Baer .....

In the late 1980s/1990s, the elite FBI Hostage Rescue Team issued each member a custom 1911a1 "double stack frame"(14+1 .45acp) models from top pistolsmith: Les Baer.
HRT agents liked the Baer .45acp models but reportedly the DoJ/FBI had logistics-QC problems with Les Baer's custom shop. The FBI then converted to S-A 1911a1 7/8+1 .45acp sidearms for the HRT & regional SWAT teams.

For more in depth details about the FBI HRT, see the non fiction books: Cold Zero or No Heroes.

A little more to the story than what you might know. I imagine the special agents have quite a collection of some really nice pistols with their department logos and some bells and whistles that others don't have.

Seems they get new guns every two or three years and the agents get to buy the
"defective" ones for little or nothing.

Whoever wrote the PO for those on the taxpayers dime should be strung up but was probably promoted.

"Replacing" guns in service with "new" ones and then selling them to the agents/officers who used them has become quite common all over the U.S. Many police departments have been criticized and investigated for it. And it IS a taxpayer ripoff. It's been going on for years. These people have money to burn. Your money.

Im often amazed at the batches of unissued police trade in for sale all over. Im amazed at the sheer waste of funds.

Those are some fancy police guns. Bet if officers had to buy their own they'd be happy with a glock and run it their entire career.

If you scroll through the pics, they are Labeled SWAT.
Looks like a great competition pistol, not so sure about it being a duty gun.

Beautiful pistols, if these are being sold as used for $2k, I can only imagine how much they cost brand new. This is another classic case of government waste. I'm not saying the SWAT teams should not have the best, they should. But c'mon.

Also, if I was one of the SWAT guys who had this pistol, I'd keep it. Why would you ever let a pistol that nice go?
