Springfield XD-9 vs. Glock 19

Shoot them both and see which one you like better. I like the grip angle on the XD9 better. It points and shoots better for me than the Glock 19. I currently own the XD9SC.

Both are great guns and its going to come down to preference for you. The G19 has been out longer so there will be more aftermarket goodies for the Glock then the XD.

for me, the xd is a lot more comfortable to hold, and points better. it's generally considered to have a better trigger (i guess this goes with being sa rather than dao). it's also got a grip safety, and is usually about $50 cheaper from what i've seen. oh, and racking an xd is not reminiscent of a pepper grinder in action ;)

that said, the tennifer finish on the glock beats the pants off the bruniral finish on the xd. the xd finish will work out fine, but it does require more care. could just get it in stainless.

I looked at both the XD's and Glock's before buying my 4" XD-40 service model with night sites. As already spoken, the XD fit my hand a lot better than the Glocks and the grip angle feels much better to me. They field strip into only 4 pieces in a matter of seconds and go back together as easily and quickly. I would buy the XD again and, very well may buy another soon.

;)

I keep going to gun show planning on buying a Glock, but I always end up leaving with somethign else.

I have an XD40 that is an amazing gun. I love it almost as much as my Steyrs. It is getting allot easier to find accesories for the XD they are becoming more and more popular. I also really like the grip safety. The grip safety has all ready saved me from having a ND. I like the Xd so much I am using for ISPC competitions.

Yes...I also had my eyes set on the an OD Green XD-40... I'm sure 9mm are just as effective as the .40cal. But they are beautiful guns. And the feel good too.

I've owned both. The XD hands down. Better grip, better safety options and better trigger.

With the XD9 you have cheap 15 round mags using XD40 mags. They work great and run under $25 delivered. Mark

Both are fine guns, but....

The XD gets my vote.

I don't like the way the Glock's magazine well/grip flexes at the bottom if you squeeze from the sides. The XD is much more solid, and has other nice features that have already been pointed out here. It's also a much better-looking gun.

However, if it weren't for Glock, the XD would probably never exist, at least in it's present configuration.

I own a couple of Glock's (23C and 21) and have a buddy who purchased an XD9 as his first firearm. I look at the Springfield XD line as having everything that's good about Glock with none of the bad things.

- Trigger is better feeling (true SA)
- The grip safety is nice and non-intrusive.
- Loaded chamber indicator. if you're fumbling in the dark, it's nice to feel that bump I'm sure. Nice bonus.
- Dotted sights instead of the default "bucket" style sights.
- Ambi-dexterous magazine release.
- Magazines are all drop-free.
- Angle is more "normal" on the grip. Minor issue for me, but enough to make it even more attractive!

Plus, the XD seems to be less costly. At least around here by a good 75-100 dollars.

I have no qualms with either firearm -- but if I was deciding between the two I'd just get the XD series instead of a Glock right now.

Glock bashing is a sport on this board. Go to glocktalk.com for the other side.

Those Croation sensations aren't worth more than the $250 they originally sold for. When your XD is rusting or the rifling is shot out my Glock will still be running fine. :neener:

Dang it! Mine has no rust and the rifling is fine. Maybe I got a lemon? :(

In 9mm...

I call it an even race, based entirely on shooter preference. A Sig or Beretta "G" Centurion in that caliber would suit me better than either.

In .40, I'd go with the XD.

SA XD

I did the same thing that most people here have said that they did - looked at both, hoped for a Glock and bought the SA. It points, feels and shoots better than the Glock.

Have some of the finish jobs been subject to scrutiny? Yep - but there are TONS of options that you can have done to the SA and create a unique ook to your weapon

My subcompact 9mm (SA) has a great finish, but I am thinking about doing a hard chrome or NP3 finish on it for fun and to make it MINE.

IF you can, shoot them both and then decide - you will win either way, but as for me and my house - I piced up the XD!!

XD and Glock??? Beautiful???

Errrr....

I think these two try hard to out-thump each other in ugliness...:D :D :D

But I go for the XD, for the trigger and the grip safety. ;)

While I've never owned a model 19 I have owned the same pistol with a bigger hole in the barrel the model 23. I recently bought an XD and I can shoot it much better than I ever could the glock. I just like the way the Xd fits me. Also I have fired over a thousand rounds through my XD and not had a single malfunction.

The kind of folks who'd buy an XD probably wouldn't be the kind of folks who'd be reloading. Most Kb's are caused by bad reloads.

Or leading up a polygonal barrel...........

Besides, I'm seeing lots of XD's in USPSA production and in IDPA.

Has anyone heard of an XD going....KaBoom?

AFAIK the number of XD-9's and Glock 19's going kaboom is the same. However, having had an active childhood, I do believe it's possible to destroy anything ... even hammers.
