.375 ruger alaskan guide gun

Another happy 375 Ruger owner here. Got mine in the ruger guide gun flavor last summer after searching for a medium bore. Searched for 338-06, 35 whelen, 358 Norma, 9.3x62, nothing unless I wanted to go custom. It's like folks want to hang onto these. And I was starting to think the 338 Win Mag has been so successful because it was really the only widely supported medium bore. But I digress . . .

It'll push 270 grains as flat as a 30-06 pushes 180 grains. And with 9 lbs of rifle to soften the push, it was a no brainer for hunting anything in Alaska.

I think it's definitely here to stay if the H&H has stuck around. The Ruger version comes in stand length actions in good rifles that are very affordable.

Goose Gestapo, I form 280 Ross brass from 300 H&H the same way. The Ross case is the same diameter as the belt on the H&H case. I will run a H&H case into a 280 Ross sizing die (with the de-capper removed) and trim to length. With a light load the H&H case expands to fit the chamber, just in front of the belt. The brass is very thick and strong in that area and it only has to do this once. I get five to seven reloads out of a case.

I can get ballistic performance about halfway between a 280 Remington and a standard 7mm Remington Magnum.

Manny....why a 9.3X62? Set one of those next to a 35 Whelen, step back three feet, and you can't tell the difference. They are close to identical, with the Whelen being perhaps a bit more powerful.

Hell,

7mm 08 serves all my real needs. But it doesn't stop me from reading these threads and feeling like I'm missing out. Congrats to the OP.

Scope not on there anymore, in the process of packing so all scopes are coming off and getting packed for trip. Gonna be a 2.5-8 varix lll on there for hunting.

These were hanging plates at 50yds. Iron sights, standing, about 2900 and change with a 220 hornady sp. Pushes like a 20ga with that brake on. My favorite new toy!! Never touched sight from factory. Will get down to load development and accuracy testing with scope after i get settled.

Would also love to see pics of the re-formed win mag brass as well. Just happen to have a about 15 or so on the shelf dying for a little attitude adjustment. Very cool

And here I was wanting to buy a suppressor when there are cool medium-bore rifles to buy and load for :banghead:

I just need to finish my degree and make some money  then I can have BOTH

Seriously though, I'd like to see some pics of the reformed 300wm brass as well.
