Due to college, 3 kids and and full time job its taken me nearly a year to get to this point. Everything is ready for final assembly except rust bluing the barreled action. Did everything myself save the case hardening work which was through Old South Restoration.
1909 action, Shilen 30-06 tube, express style rear irons, case hardened scope rings, grip cap, bolt shroud, and straddle floorplate hinged trigger guard.

Love that Argentine trigger guard. I need to get a floorplate for mine (25-06) I'm stocking. I also like the way the checkered grip cap and bolt shroud were color case hardened.

My classmate tried to color case his receiver. It warped. :( The school has several color case receivers that were ruined in the process. The ones that turn out are wonderful.

Note the shape of the floorplate, not 1909, see where the floorplate widens close to the trigger guard? Cheapest straddle floorplate trigger guard I found was sold by SARCO, Dumoulin trigger guard assembley, which is the one I used. A few others are out there but are closer to $300. OSR does the recievers for $500 but a big part of that cost is him making a custom brace for each receiver to prevent warping

Wow! Great looking work so far! The color case hardened pieces look awesome!

Yet another stunning rifle!!!

Yet, you say you still have a day job??

I'd hate to think what you could do if you went at building custom rifles full-time!!!

Again, simply stunning workmanship and an artists eye for lines, and metal work!!!

Love the case colors, the figuring, the checkering, and the fit.

Looks beautiful!

People like you can't stop at one, so what's the next project? :)

That's great!! was my dream not that long ago but costs and logistics bit me in the a**. very glad you did it!
On a side note, I bought a .375 ruger Alaskan guide gun and it might be my fav new gun for relatively cheap money. EXCELLENT WORK!!

Ive got 3 others that Im piddling with as time allows.
1903 Springfield styled in the classic early American Wundhammer style stock with Lyman 48 rear sight and full engraved trigger guard.
Another Mauser, this one in 243 , modern style for my son with a brilliant blue laminate stock with adj. cheekpiece.
Yet another mauser that I am restocking with an orig. Mauser factory sporter stock, claw mounts, B.Nickel scope in 8x57

That's really a great rifle. I keep telling these young guys that there's more to rifles than a Wal*Mart Remington 700. Really good job and you picked the cartridge that I would have picked. If that rifle was mine I would be shooting it a lot and it would have a Pachmayr Decelerator 752B 1 inch black pad. I know it would take away from the classic appearance but it would make the shooting experience more enjoyable. What kind of trigger are you going to use?

I've got a nice red pad with a black spacer that will be on the finished product. I usually use a Timney on mine but I had a spare commercial trigger that has a serrated face that I stoned for a smooth and clean break
