I like that.

That rifle deserves a gloss finish scope though. On most rifles I prefer matte finish, but I think it would be worth the effort to find one for this rifle. Not many out there anymore.

Damn nice rifle so question do you just Pefer the Mauser action over say a 700 or a model 70 or savage?

I've only done mausers cause that's what I had on hand. Still have one Mauser and a 1903 build in the works

Great case colors and beautiful stock. I like the old Mauser actions with the thumb notch, good to see a quick release scope with safari sights, too. It's almost a newfangled guild gun. How much of that work was done by the OP?

A Bubba Job is one end of the scale, THIS is at the extreme opposite (good) end. If all sporterizing of ex military rifles were done this well, no one would complain about the practice! This is how you turn a lump of coal into a diamond.

It doesn't get any better than this..

Not bad. Not really a fan of case hardening, but it looks pretty good. Kind of surprised you went with Warne rings instead of premium ones for such an expensive build. That said, I would have done the same. An $80 hunk of aluminum is no better than a $20 one.

Beautiful rifle. This was just the inspiration I needed as well as I work on my own 30-06 mauser sporter. I'm at a point where it's gonna be nothing but sanding for a while so it can be difficult to motivate myself to work on it for hours on end.

Thanks for sharing.

How did you finish the stock if you don't mind me asking?

Since you re-purposed a rear sight from a different rifle that was already labeled and the leaves already notched, how did you get the rifle to regulate? Were you able to just adjust the notches and reblue?

I did everything but the case hardening.

The 100 yard notch was already spot on, 200 required just one lick with a V file and it was good, didnt even mess with the 300 yard leaf

I used gloss Tung oil on this one. The rifles a bit flashy so I didnt mind putting gloss on it, otherwise on a more subtle build I'll stick with BLO.

The rings are steel. I've never had any issues using Warne bases or rings.
