"The Brady bill was signed by "Slick Willie" Klinton. Check your history book."
Whoa, mea culpa! I coulda sworn the guy signed the law named for his buddy blah-blah-sob-story etc... I guess Sarah Brady wasn't quite as quick on the draw, in those days
"However, in his post-presidency, Reagan cast his support to a pair of critical gun control measures in the 1990s: 1993’s Brady Bill and 1994’s Assault Weapons Ban."
(this is from some random site about 'Reagan + gun control') Ah, maybe his post-term advocacy for gun control measures is what had me cornfused.
"Also, there is no ban on machine guns. None! There is only a ban on registering new ones. That sucks, but you can still own, buy, sell or trade any already registered."
And I'm gonna have to throw the flag on that one, since what we have is at least 3X stupider and in conflict with federal law at this point than an honest to goodness
ban which would at least be understandable (if legally indefensible). What we have now is a laughable market distortion with the sole purpose of reducing the number of weapons legally available, all the while saddling those stalwart few owners with regulations so mind bendy and irrational, that many are felons as we speak. Add to that that the ATF actually has know idea how many guns are registered, nor to whom in many cases.
Careful, SHOOT1SAM, generic reference to that word'll get you a reprimand here; ask me how I know

PS, Reagan and his VP were, not unexpectedly, of the same mind on the issue, so the opening left in the RKBA defense by Reagan was furthered by Bush through executive action, and ultimately exploited by Clinton as the final act one Democrats swept congress.
