    S&W 1911's

Have one, it's been pretty great so far. Hard to beat for features/price, there are nicer 1911s out there but you're looking at spending almost twice as much.

Volquartsen Parts and Upgrades: Worth the $

In a word, yes. I've done the trigger/sear swap and it's hard to beat for $/value. Improves an already great trigger to a fantastic one.

Another bad day at Knob Creek

Sounds like something that happened at a local range here recently. Guy with a brand new AR, new to the AR platform somehow managed to get a casing behind the bolt(I think, wasn't there for the first part). We came up to the range with one of the RO banging his AR into the ground butt...

    New Sig P220 Problems?

I've had a new(Exeter) P220 Compact with at least a thousand rounds through it, not a single FTF/FTE and more accurate than I am.

    1911 for $900-$1200

S&W E-Series, right on the bottom end of your budget too

    Sexiest stainless 1911 under $1k?

Hard to beat the E-Series, you can usually find them for well under 1k.

Best model 1911 for the dollar

Another E-Series vote here: Was a toss up between this and Sig's offering and I found a decent deal for ~$850, should be close to your price range. Love everything about it.

    Sig 239 Questions

I can't speak to the P239, however I own the P220 Compact which is somewhat similar to the P239. It could be you had a poorly maintained model since I never had any issues punching out the center ring when I take my time and do things right. It might also be a grip issue for you, what works...

    Help me pick a P220

Stainless elite grips were a bit wide for me when I rented one, I'd go dark.

    Volquartsen Trigger & Sear

I didn't measure it, but it was noticeably lighter, probably about 50% or so. The pre & post travel screws also help a bit in cleaning up the overall pull as well.

    Volquartsen Trigger & Sear

In a word: Wow! I know people rave about these and I always thought they were a little overhyped. No longer, I'm a convert. Added one to my Mark 3 Target Competition and I couldn't be happier. Nice, clean 2.5lb break that makes it just a joy to shoot. Combined with a Ultradot and I'm in...

Looking for a CCW in .45 ACP

How about a Sig P220 Compact? It's not polymer but fits most of your other requirements, has been stupid reliable to me and very accurate to boot. I usually carry with an MTAC which I find to be a very high quality holster: Paired with a good belt it's hard to notice that it's...

2012 NEW XDM 45 Single Stack

Yeah, I'm not really seeing the appeal either, I don't understand how they made a polymer gun so heavy. My P220 Compact is similar weight, size and carries 6+1

    Keep MKIII or get SR22PB?

I have no issue slingshotting mine, the bolt release drops when I tug back on the bolt no problem.

List of pistols with JM Browning-format controls?

The Sig p220 SAO also has the same layout.

    Shallow Gun Safe

Anyone know of a company that makes shallow gun safes? We've got a pretty small house an the only closet that would really work is 10" deep and 2' wide. Not looking to store a lot, 2-3 long guns and a few handguns.

    Sig P238 Safety Question

From my understanding of the 1911 platform(and the p238/mustang is supposed to be a downsized one) the half cock notch is less of a manual safety now and more to catch the hammer if the sear were to ever slip for some reason.

    Xdm 45 or fnh 5.7x28

He did well on the trade. I've shot one before and it's not really for me, mostly due to initial cost(~$1k) and ammo costs. One thing to consider is that reloading for the 5.7x28 is not easy where as 45acp is very straight forward(and cheap).

    Most 1911 for the money

Another vote for the E-Series here, mine's been flawless and couldn't be happier.

    Movie blooper

Haha, I was going to post the exact same thing. Watched the movie a while back and noticed the same thing.
