A month or two ago I posted a question regarding .357 accuracy - what groups were attainable with a .357 revolver at 25 yards. Good information ensued (Thanks everybody).
Anyway , I needed a project this winter - even though I haven't had a lot of time to spend on it - here's an update...
Rem 33 for me.
Grandfather - Father - Me.
You could fill a warehouse with the rabbits that rifle has put down. It was my first rifle when I was a boy , every cent I had went for .22 shells.
Probably worth $20 , but it's the most valuable rifle I own.
I used a level on my last couple , worked pretty good. Put gun in holder/vice where you can move it to level , level on scope base. Put scope in base(es) ,level on adjustment cap (or take cap off if flatter surface underneath). Tighten screws evenly.
AACD - no offence taken:)
Quoted from Speer reloading manual #14....
"Just a year after the .225 was introduced,Remington announced that it was going to commercialize the 22-250 , one of the most popular wildcat cartridges ever. The 22-250 was a more conventional case design with an...
Letting a child "pull the trigger" when they don't know/care what is going on is just saying something about dad.
My opinion - (GENERALLY SPEAKING)
7 - Red Rider BB gun
10 - .22 (under supervision)
12 - .22 alone , Centerfire rifle under supervision
14 - any rifle , pistols...
AACD - I said the 22 - 250 "drove the .225 from the market" - paraphrased from wikipedia , I believe.
The soon to be "obsolete" comment is my own inference from the standpoint of availability of factory ammo - considering that there is currently only one manufacturer making only one load (...
Nevermind , I found one. (Hornady).
Since I have your attention, does anyone have experience with this cartridge?
Comments , opinions? I know it was driven from the market by the 22 - 250 and may soon be "obsolete"
Actually it's 30-06. Quit offending me with your incorrect nomenclature.:)
(I think your question may be a little vague. What's your price range , for starters. Also "best" is very subjective. I think you're about to get a list of what everyone here owns.)
kind of interesting.... Have to re - zero scope every time you change barrels? meh.
The rifle looks pretty sweet though.
list different loads for .357 mag with 296 and H110 powder? They vary quite a bit , too.
For example - loads listed for a 140 g bullet
296 - 17g,1327fps 18g,1367fps
H110 - 16.2,1323fps 17.2,1352fps
interesting , since a trip to the hodgdon website confirms that these two powders...
Internally , is the Detective special more like the K.C. , Anaconda - or like the Python?
I guess what I'm asking is as it relates to timing. Am interested in gen 3.
Tell me if I've asked a stupid question.
I'm considering one for carry. Or a glock 27. (I know;))
Oh , I forgot to mention - I have friends with smith and ruger revolvers - PERSONALLY - I prefer my Colt.
Mr dfariswheel - I'm going to start another Colt thread right now -care to stick around?
I have one -6" stainless. I like it.
It shoots well , feels good , the trigger is nice. Looks dead sexy.
I just got Weigand rings and a base , I'm going to mount a scope on it. (just for fun - I started a thread on here about this recently - lots of good advice).
I paid about 380...
Shawnee - the trigger on this gun is very very good.
Others - I appreciate the reloading advice. I'm buying a press so that's kind of what got me thinking about working with the .357.
As far as the scope goes , I really think I'd like to play with one.
Thank you for the responses.
A few things -
The "quality revolver" is a Colt King Cobra. I just didn't want to get into a "brand war".
I was thinking 2" at 25 (benchrested) - (so I guess I already agree with Steve C), which should be around 8-10" at a hundred (assuming consistant...
