Sig offers 4 finishes Nitron, two-tone,ss, and blued. Can anyone explain the differences between Nitron and blued? Also which finish is the most duriable?
About decided on picking up a Sig 228 from CDNN. Now the real choice is blue, K-kote or two-tone.
How do each of these hold up?
Edit: This may see some carry time if that matters.
I am a bit bummed. First time I put my sig into a galco matrix (kydex) holster, it took some of the finish off of the outer edges of the trigger guard. ditched that.
Then last night as I am cleaning it with Hoppes #9, the paint/finish started coming off the aluminum frame, inside the gun...
I have an older Sig P220 (1994) and it's finish is looking kind of ratty. It doesn't have many rounds through it, but it doesn't take much to make them look worn. I don't ccw it or take it to the range very often. It's kind of like a "sunday driver" car in the garage that doesn't get driven...
I hope this is in the right place.
I recently purchased a Sig Sauer SP2022 in .40 and love it so far. I had a Sigma 40VE before and there is just no comparison.
My question is, will a solvent like Hoppes or Gunscrubber harm the Nitron finish. I know that Gunscrubber will harm some...
So newer P232s have the "Nitron" finish, but does anyone know when they switched from blue to Nitron?
My P232 could use a refinish to the slide but I don't know which finish is stock.
Mine is date marked KJ (so 1998) and looks like blue to me.
Looks blue to me, but I don't know what Nitron...
I have decided to go with a Sig 220 for Home Defense as opposed to a Glock 21. I was suprised but Sig maintained a slim but consistent lead throughout. Now I have to sory my way the mryiad of Sig Pistols to determine which model I would like.
I have narrowed it down to the following
Sig...
Thinking of putting the 226 on this year's must buy list but not sure yet considering the high price. Which finish is best for this gun -- blue, stainless or two-tone?
I'm still really wanting a P239 but I hear and read a LOT about how easily the classic SiGs rust.
I note that these guns now use a Nitron finish. Is this an improved version of their older finish, or have they always used Nitron.
If I compared a P239 from 4 years ago with one from today...
Some of you may remember that my trusty SIG P220 suffered some rust damage awhile back. I was forced to take most of the bluing off the slide in order to get rid of it, and I'm working on stripping it the rest of the way. Been polishing the flats and that sort of thing for awhile now; they'll...
I got my last paper form 4 for a YHM Titanium Phantom back last Friday ... 272 days door to door.
I know I've said it before, but this time I mean it ... this finishes up my SiG-556 SBR.
I bought a SIg Sauer P6 in January. It's a German police trade-in and it had significant holster wear. The finish shows bare metal in a few places and lately I've noticed a bit of surface rust showing up on it. I can get it of if I rub at it, but it shows up again in a couple of weeks. Is...
Looking at the line of Sig pistols on their website
some have the black Nitron trademarked finish.
How durable is Nitron?
Anybody know exactly what it is - Poly? metal?
is it applied over Carbon or Stainless or both?
R-
Anybody know exactly what the new XO finish is? Sig was rather vague about it when responding to email. They called the Nitron a vapor finish. I assume they mean vapor deposition of some sort. The XO they simply said was a lower quality finish. I assume they mean in appearance.
So far I...
I've seen the breath-taking Sigarms sidearms with the Equinox finish, the subtle brushed stainless look.
How do these hold up over time? Do they mar easily? Subject to holster wear? Prone to scratches or fading?
I just recently got a new Sig 226R in 9mm.
Shoots great, but I am really disappointed with the finish. It is very fragile, as it nicks so easily and exposes the steel/alloy beneath. For a gun that costs so much, that is very disappointing.
I've had my Glocks and CZ's for years, and the...
I recently acquired a two-tone SIG P228 with the matte nickel-finished slide. Are there any special maintenance concerns I should have with this finish?
Looking at getting a new 239 that will likely see some carry if I end up liking it. :D
It's warm here much of the year and although I'll probably carry high OWB, the gun could see some sweat, or I may end up carrying IWB (which means more sweat).
So, should I spend the extra coin on the...
I am thinking of getting my Sig 228's and my PCR refinished. What do you guys recommend as being the most durable? If you say Bearcoat....I'll kill you. :p
Just kidding.
