Did they perform well?
Yes, I would check my brass but that is down my list of concerns.
Seems like your SIG may need a bit hotter of a load or a different powder. Nothing I would be worried about if the round performed as it should.
Just over here chopping, roasting, and squeezing this 30-06 into 7.7 jap.... I don't have a lot of love for federal rifle brass so that's first choice for conversion. The lower pressure might give the primer pocket an extra cycle maybe....
...ones with clean cases could be running higher pressure (Tight chamber, short lead.......etc), or the dirty ones could be
breaking the seal the brass makes in the chamber sooner, unlocks quicker? I've had 9MM handguns do similarly.
My 9MM EMP had a tight chamber and brass tended to be cleaner...
@Laphroaig
I make my own kydex clip on versions of these to fit through or around my mounts these days, but this was what I was shown to use to solve the problem you described when I started shooting SR. Puts the spent brass at your feet. No hunting, behind the line or in front.
That pie chart gets drug out every time this topic gets brought up. I have 4 .223 AR's, and can confidently state that 3 of them throw brass into the red zone at 1 or 2 o'clock. The 4th one probably does too, but I can't remember. Two of them have been rebarreled several times and all are...
...at the bench. Getting set-up for a small batch of single stage Colt 45.
Unique, Missouri Hi-Tek coated #8 Cowboy RNFP 180gr, New Starline Brass. Winchester Primers. Have not decided on load grains yet.
Amazon double-shipped an order of Lyman Funnels. Only charged me for one. I did...
I recently did the same thing. Last year I also but some brass and bullets for some of my lesser common cartridges. 38 Super, 10MM, 45 Auto Rim, 30 Carbine, 222 Remington, ect.
Blue Dot was on my want list but it looks like I'm out of luck on that!
Your right. I have 3+ lbs left from my 30 30 days
Finally got me some .308 and 7.62x39 small primer brass. Works just fine. I'm back in biz. Save LRP for hunting loads now.
Save my knees from stairs for important trips.
...1 or 2 PM when I'm done, I will be enjoying an hour or two at the bench making a few new Colt 45 cartridges as a reward later.
New Starline Brass, Unique powder (while I still have some), with Missouri Hi-Tek bullets. Not many. Probably 50. Just a small reward for a morning and early...
Hi,
Interesting. Why would it not need a tool to moon/demoon? Also, with the case being shorter, would it not leave a carbon ring in the cylinder somewhat like shooting .38 SP in a .357 Mag?
Ed
...at that number (or any number, consistently).
I know it was a lot to read but in my OP I described the cases being used and for the test dummies I described the two different batches—so yes sorted brass.
I didn’t mention using comparator. I don’t have one. Not sure I want one at this point.
...charges under 5 grains of TG will get you where you want to be. If you are concerned about the case capacity and soft loads, pick up some C45S brass from Starline. With your Bond, you can pretty much use the low end of 45 ACP load data with the C45S brass, and that wide assortment of...
Finally shot up all of my 308 loads that didn't work out and back to reloading today. Loaded up (100) 168 GR SMK over 45 GR AA2520. Spent the rest of the afternoon checking brass for separation cracks.
