This was what I was looking for, examples when having/drawing but not shooting ended up with nobody getting hurt in an otherwise potentially much worse scenario.
Well, I called a local gun-shop near my school and they said as long as I have the secondary ID it would be fine... but I called the DMV and was told that I cannot be a resident of multiple states under NH law... I was calling to ask what papers I would need to bring and they said that I can't...
I am not asking how many people have shot somebody else in self defense, but I am curious to hear real stories from members where they used a gun in a manner to deescalate/diffuse a volatile situation. I remember reading an article several months back about a couple who helped save a women who...
...and willing to discard traditional values. >.<
So much for that theory :)
Really the argument came down to the fact his dad thinks "Somebody *could* get hurt" and my having to resist firing back with "Any time you leave the house you can get hurt". Although yes, there is a higher risk of a...
I might just have to take that approach and accept that shooting with him this weekend is unlikely...
And I do agree with what people are saying, and what being an adult is. I would just have preferred to go about this in a way that does not "stir the pot" as it were.
Oh well, I appreciate...
My friend is fine with it, it is his dad who is not. And since they are family friends, going behind his dads back is a great way to just cause problems. I guess it probable won't happen but I was hoping somebody might be able to help me approach it from another angle.
Also, I am in college...
...are able to make sure everyone has a good time without anyone getting hurt.
His dad however is extremely anti gun, and argues that A) somebody *could* get hurt (even though he admits it is extremely unlikely) B) feels that there are thousands of more ways to have fun without shooting guns...
It's totally silly and has not tactical or practical function... Being young and male I just think the idea of a fire shooting revolver to be awesome :)
...I shouldn't have even put it in my post, for some reason it just slipped in, and it seems to be all anyone has noticed.
The main point I was *trying* to make was why do people who are against firearms think humans will be less violent if guns are restricted and why isn't firearm safety...
In my view, and this may just be me, a heat of the moment decision to by a handgun seems far more likely then buying a rifle or shotgun. I could be wrong. Personally I think 1-3 days is enough for handguns and long guns don't need a wait. When I said one-two weeks in the original post I was more...
I come from a fairly liberal family, who although dislike guns, support me and my interests (which include guns)... I get into arguments with my folks more then I would like about pro-gun/anti-gun and gun control and what not... I have read through several threads bringing up various points and...
Well, you and NavyLCDR have cleared up my questions on the matter, again, thanks to both of you for taking the time to help me figure this out, it is very much appreciated.
I apologize, I misunderstood that part until I re-read it. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to answer my question, I really appreciate it. Now I just need to figure out what kind of government-issued document I should get... probably voters...
Of course, I can still buy a handgun from...
...my Maine drivers license to establish that although I have permanent residency in Maine, since I am residing in the campus dorms for the semester I *am* a NH resident for the purposes of getting a handgun transferred to me in NH. And unlike some cases were you need to stay in a place for say...
haha if I ever make it down that way I will, I live in northern New England...
Also, I assume $390 is a great price from what I have seen, but I don't suppose anyone knows of any other good deals on the XD in 9mm?
