Im very sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences Sir.
It sounds like you absolutely lost a great father, friend, and role model that all children would be lucky to have.
For warmer weather, I like my irish setter gortex 400g insulated 9" boots. Good for general shooting activities and the warmer spring turkey seasons.
For cold weather hunting, I like my cabelas whitetail extreme gortex 1200g insulated 10" boots. They have a few inches of stand off in the...
Im with the others that use Brake cleaner. Every set of dies I buy, I thouroughly clean them before use and coat them with One Shot for rust prevention.
Ill second the Savage line, I have a few in different calibers, and they are all accurate rifles. Not the prettiest to look at the more basic ones, but the Mod 12bvss I own is a really sharp looking rifle.
I have several Remmy 700's in .308 too, they are also good rifles. I have a tac in...
I have over 50,000 on my Loadmaster. but I had loaded way more on my old press. I have done every caliber I own a rifle for, I dont do as much handloading as I used to. Mainly due to the cost increase over the last two years, I took a break. I will pick it up again this winter if I go Pdog...
I give new brass the full works, FL size, tumble off lube, trim, chamfer/deburr, prime, charge and seat. I do this with all rifle loads, that way it is easy to keep track of which brass has which steps done. It only takes a few minutes extra per hundred to do.
But, Im a little particular...
I have basically the same rifle (12fv) in .223. these are my current loads:
Accuracy & range: 69gr Sierra MK with 23.5gr of H335 and CCI SR standard primer. sub MOA for me.
For Dogtown : 55gr vmax with 24.5gr of H335 and CCI SR standard primers. does well at the range too.
.308 vote here too. so many options for loading. Very common caliber, so you should find a rifle chambered for .308 that fits your fancy without issue.
Personally, the .308 I shoot the most out of my cabinet is a remy 700 26" blued barrell SPS varmint. It is very accurate and a good bang for...
I chuckled at that sticker when I got Mine too. Mine isw bitone silv/black 9mm. It currently is the pistol that is my "go to" choice for carry / range duty. I always find myself leaving the others at home since I shoot well with it.
XD(m)? some adjustability to fit your hand, availible in multiple calibers. I paid around $6xx for mine. I really like this gun, ergonomics, points well, very accurate (more than my skills are), comes with some "accessories".
Just a suggestion, and it is a cc for me too. Yes its on the big...
I have a 12fv in .223 too. I currently have a Bushnell Banner Dusk til Dawn 6-24x on it. I have been happy with it for range duty (only had a chance to use it at about 200 yds maximum so far). It was around $125 from midway.
Im going to south dakota for prarie dog shootin in June, I may...
I inherited a 30/40 krag 2 years ago that I have not fired yet.
It head spaced great and has a lot of bore left and the gunsmith said it was nearly perfect order. I do have some factory loads and some 1st attempt handloads for it, I just have not taken it out yet.
I have been using 42gr of RE-15 and 168gr Hornady HPBT-M with CCI BR LR primers and Remington brass. This has been very accurate from my SPS Varmint .308. I have also tried A-Max bullets and SMK, both were good too, but I think the Hornady HPBT-M were a good price to performance value.
I Have the frankfort arsenal digital calipers that were 12 bucks from midway and I have been happy with them. The battery that came with them didn't last very long but the new one has lasted 6 months now, and still going.
I also have a harbor freight dual set I owned first that I use and I...
I received my loadmaster as a gift from my wife. I really dont need a progressive, I use it as a indexing turret. I actually took all the feeding stuff off of it as well as the priming system. I really like my setup now that it does only what I want, but Im probably insulting the press and what...
Im still developing for this rifle but Im using 42.1gr or Re-15 and 168 BTHP hornady with CCI LR primers and Remington brass. Im starting with 168gr SMK and Amax shortly.
