He mentions the Yankee Marshal utube channel. In my opinion, Yankee Marshal is THE best utube gun channel out there. The dude is hilarious and knows his stuff.
Generally speaking, I carry (concealed) everywhere unless it's specifically forbidden by State or Federal law. For all other places that are open to interpretation, I err on the side of carrying.
Michigan has some "grey area" concerning where you can and can't carry. Bars are off limits...
I work in a "fire arm free zone" and I don't carry on the job. I do, however, keep a snub-nosed .357 in the car. Everywhere else, I carry concealed.
If I was allowed to carry, I would. I like my job so I stick to the rules. Although I don't have any "weapons" in my office, I do have...
I've always liked my 20 gauge. It's an 870 with a 26" barrel. Its light, easy to maneuver and accurate. This shotgun has probably dispatched more varmits than any other I own.
I play drums in a local bar band. About 10 years ago I got pulled over in a small town about 2 AM for (barely) speeding. The cop notices a bunch of stuff piled in my car and asks "What do you have in the car?" I reply "Those are my drums. I'm in a local band. We're just finishing up a gig."...
My every day carry is a Ruger LCRX in .38 SP. I'm very happy with it. If I had to do it all over again or were in the market for a second .38 snubbie, I'd look at the Smiths as well. Both the Ruger LCR and the Smith 442/642 are solid revolvers that will do the job.
Favorite: Mossberg 500 12 gauge with Hogue furniture with 18" and 28" barrels.
2nd Favorite: Remington 870 20 gauge with 26" barrel and wood furniture.
I carry a .38 LCRX quite often. I can hit a man-sized target pretty consistently at 25 meters at a range with single action. When shooting double action, my accuracy goes down quite a bit.
Frankly, a snub-nosed revolver isn't designed for 25 meter head-shots. It's a quick, reliable and...
28 or 20 gauge?
In my opinion, unless you already have a really nice 28 gauge shotgun there's really no reason to move away from 20 gauge. There are no compelling reasons I can see to make the switch to 28 gauge and a whole lot of negatives:
- higher ammo cost
- limited ammo availability
-...
Personally, I'd save the money and go with a pump shotgun. For a good HD shotgun, all you need is a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 pump. Slap on an 18" barrel and call it good.
In my opinion... I don't like all the add-ons lots of people affix to their shotguns. Most shotgun accessories just...
My buddy has two old guns from his late father-in-law. They've barely been used. He wants to sell them and asked me what to list them for. Here they are:
Savage lever action rifle, model 99C. .308 caliber.
Remington, semi-auto, 20 gauge shotgun, model 11-48.
Any ideas as to how much he...
I have 4 Remington 870s: 1 new one and 3 old ones. The new one has a polymer trigger guard and trigger housing as opposed to the alloy one on the older 870s. The new one has a grooved barrel topper that reduces glare. All in all, I see no significant difference between the old and new 870s...
I recently dispatched four foxes with my wife's .22 WMR Savage 93F rifle. I always use a shotgun for varmits, but could never get close enough to these foxes. The .22 WMR from a hide position gave me just enough range and stopping power to score clean kills without the crazy loud noise of a...
Hope your "pawn shop rescue" Mossberg is going well. A couple years ago I purchased a beat up Mossberg 500 from a dude on Craigslist. Unbeknownst to me, the plastic safety had already been replaced with an aluminum one. I gave it Hogue furniture, an 18" HD barrel and a rattle-can finish...
I'd recommend simply getting an 18" smooth bore barrel with a bead sight. It will set you back $100 and some change. That's all you really need to make yourself a great home defense gun. All the other add-ons (fancy stocks, lights, scopes) are not necessary.
Using the 20" rifled barrel for...
I bought a used model 10 for my wife from Buds years ago. She liked it so much I got another for myself. The DA trigger pull is, by far, the best of any revolver I've ever fired. Mechanically, they were perfect but suffered from a lot of holster wear. One came with wood grips and the other...
I'm not familiar with this model, but generally speaking I'd be very cautious about firing an old shotgun that's suffered from abuse. Having a nail as a trigger guard is a good indication of this. Just be careful, bro.
Personally, I'd just fix it up nice and use it as a wall hanger. A...
