I just bought my first pistol. A USP .40 HK. I rented and shot a the same gun and a Glock full size in .40. I paid an extra 200 over the Glock only because I shot better with the HK and I liked the way it fit. I am happy with my purchase but I guess time will tell.
I just joined a gun club and started to shoot trap once a week. I have been shooting about 125 rounds +_ 50 rounds a week. I usually take the barrel off and clean the gun and put some remi dri lube on it, very lightly. How often should i be cleaning the barrel? I have mostly used this shotgun...
The first time I went into a gun store a friend was looking at a pistol handed it to me and I had no idea what to do with the slide.
Cabelas in PA does the same thing you buy it at the gun department cash register but someone else carries it out for then you can put it in the car and come...
All the money I spend hunting makes deer much more expensive then beef for me. I could probably eat at Ruth's Chris alot more and just not hunt, but what fun would that be. I do love venison and enjoy it as much or more than beef steaks. I just dont live close enough or have the time to devote...
I was wondering what you other hunters use( if anything) to reduce your human type stink in the woods. I wonder if my personal aroma is the reason deer seem to stay away from me. I have seen shampoos and sprays in the stores.
I have some sent blocker spray that i put on my hunting clothes...
I use a 30-06 its the only center fire rifle I own. I figured I would get the most versatile caliber I could since it may be the only one I own for a while and may get a chance to go out west.
Just an update. I tried some pyrodex this weekend and I am still having the same issue seating the second shot. I spoke to some people at the range also shooting Encore Pro Hunters and they both said they swab after each shot. Seems like a pain. I am going to call Thompson and see what they say.
I have only been hunting a few years and I only have one non-muzzle loading deer rifle.
I love it and it shoots well even with me behind the trigger
700 sps 30-06 with Leupold 3x9 VxII
I love it and I got it on sale. I think the scope ended up costing as much as the gun.
I just got into Muzzle Loading and it is a great deal of fun. I started on the higher end but I think starting on the lower end sounds like a better idea. I am happy with what I got but not sure if I am skilled enough yet to really appreciate it. That value of moving up the ladder is worth alot...
K.A.T.
I am going to make a pilgrimage up to Cabelas and purchase exactly what you are talking about and give it a try. Hopefully I will be able to get up there before the season gets full swing down here in MD.
The only shotgun I own is an 11-87 sps . It came with a 28 inch barrel and I purchased a rifled cantilever barrel and leupold 2 x 7 scope. I know some people dont care for the 11-87 but I have loved it.
I have done skeet, trap and sporting clays as well as deer hunting with it.
I got it at...
Thanks for the tips. I am new to black powder and this is my first muzzle loader. I think I will first try some pyrodex pellets. I have had a few people at the range tell me bore butter is not the best for accuracy but it sounds like a few people here have had great success with it.
I am...
I have a .50 cal Thompson Encore Pro Hunter. I have taken it to the range a few times and I am having some difficulty seating my second shot.
I am using 2 Triple 7 pellets ,50 grain each. I am also using Thompson 250grain 50 Cal Sabots.
I load the pellets and the sabot for the first shot...
