Just curious what the difference is in recoil between a .444 Marlin and a 7mm Mag. I know it will vary depending on the rifle, but I'm just asking in general. I saw a local ad that someone was trying to sell a .444 Marline because their wife couldn't handle the recoil, the ad said he was going...
Yes it is possible, and yes it is legal in many states to get the VA license. However there is a federal law that I believe says you can't carry within 1000 feet of a school unless you have a permit from your state. I looked into getting the VA license but because of the federal law I couldn't...
I work for an independent contractor inside of two different companies. One company we do work for is very gun friendly and i routinely have long guns and pistols in my trunk inside their parking garage because the range is my way home. I even talk with their security guards about what I'm...
Thanks for the advice everyone. I will avoid the 835 for my first shotgun. Especially since I have found a couple of Wingmasters in decent shape for around the same price. They have fixed chokes, but I think I will be happier in the long run with them.
I'm just now getting into shotguns and I keep seeing 835's around this area for around $200.00 lightly used. I was wondering how these are as general shotguns. I don't really plan on shooting 3.5" shells even though they can. This will mainly be for friendly backyard clay pigeon shooting, I...
Mine likes the Remington bulk stuff from Wal-mart.
Great pistol and lots of fun to shoot, and don't worry it isn't as bad to get back together as everyone says. Just give yourself some time the first attempt, it gets much better after that.
If you go to the big box stores like Gander, or some of the local Gun Shops that mainly just sell guns $50.00+. However I've discovered that at least around here if you find a business that only sells guns as a side thing it is much cheaper. I know of a local farmers Co-op and a locksmith...
I'll be visiting relatives in Jonesboro, AR next weekend and an older female relative has asked for help in purchasing a handgun. I was wondering if there were any gun shops in that area that rented handguns so she could try out some different models. Also she has next to no experience with...
My two year old still isn't much of talker, but everytime he sees me get any of my guns out he points at them and says bang, bang, bang, bang. Yesterday I got home from the range and he saw my earmuffs and insisted on wearing them. It was adorable. I can't wait to teach him. He also goes...
It's been well over a hundred here for the last couple weeks, and I've been having a great time at the range. It's usually packed on the weekends, but today I was one of only three people shooting. No waiting, only serious safe shooters. I just make sure I drink plenty of fluids and the heat...
Thanks for the advice about the tripods, glasses, etc. I'm usually in a pretty brushy mountainous terrain in the Ozark mountains. Much different than the wide open desert I hope to move to.
It seems like as is often the case a .270 or 30'06 will get the job done. I've been wanting one or...
BikerRn, thanks for the info. What kind of ranges and what animals are you hunting? I knew the range would be increased from what I have around here and that is one of the main reasons I started this thread. Thanks for the info.
BikerRn, just curious why are you upgrading to the .300 Win Mag?
ArmoredMan, it isn't definite yet, but we are really hoping to move to AZ. Somewhere near Phoenix. Just depends on how things work out.
We might be moving to AZ soon and I was wondering what types of rifles, optics, and loads everyone uses to hunt with in AZ, especially within a couple hours of Phoenix. Where I live now a 30-30 with open sights will do everything I need, but I know that wont be the case if I move to AZ. Please...
Wish I could justify spending money on that ammo right now. I have a friend whose kid would love to shoot my MN but his dad says he isn't capable of the rifle yet(he shoots other rifles just hasn't worked up to the MN in his dads opinion). This would be great for him.
I never use the safety on mine, but it isn't a rifle I keep loaded. The only time a round is chambered is when it is pointed down range. I usually leave the bolt off of it just to ensure that it can't fired, it's not like it's difficult to put back on.
Let's see the 30-30 is low recoil, even when shot out of a lightweight rifle. The rifles chambered for it especially 336, and 94 will go bang when you need them to, and if you know what you are doing will kill what they are pointed at. The rifles are shorter and easier to carry than many other...
Great gun, great price. If you don't want a heavy overbuilt .357 then tell your friend about THR. I love to shoot my friends if he offered it to me for that price it would be mine.
