Fellow Handloaders,
For those of you who purchased an AMP machine,
1.) does it do the job well?
2.) do you have any buyer’s remorse?
3.) would you buy it again? If no, then why not?
4.) if you decided to sell your AMP, then what would you use instead?
Thanks for your time and consideration...
I’ve been reloading rifle cartridges for a decade, but this is my first go at reloading pistol cartridges.
Compared to rifle cartridges, the 7.5gr charge I am throwing seems to result in a case that looks somewhat—how should I say this—wanting, unimpressive, lacking,... empty?
Please give me...
Highroad Team,
I have encountered an interesting problem. A colleague of mine gifted me a large box of .223 and 5.56 brass. I de-primed, wet tumbled, and removed the primer crimp. I set up the T7 with a Redding FL .223 die. I calibrated a Redding Instant Indicator set up right next to the FL...
Reloading colleagues,
Burn rates. Primer differences. Projectile physics. The more I learn about reloading/handloading, the more I realize I have so much more to learn.
This brings me to bushing dies. I just recently learned about bushing dies, but I have no idea as to the “how” or “why.” Why...
Good afternoon!
My reloading equipment has been boxed up and unused for over a year during a reorganization of the homestead. I think it would be nice to set up my reloading room with a freshly cleaned and lubed press.
On my Redding Big Boss II I’ve never done anything other than oil the...
Hi Gang!
I have a Savage 11 Hog Hunter in .308Win that has never been very accurate; it has always been about a 4MOA rifle. I’ve fed it dozens of different types of ammunition. I’ve changed the stock. The scope has always been tight with appropriate torque on the the rings and bases. The...
Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
After a recent search it seems we haven't discussed this topic in while. Let's discuss your recent/successful load development and lessons learned.
What powders are you currently using? Red Dot? Trail Boss? RL-7?
What bullets do you favor? Flat nose...
So I blew it. I cleaned my resizing die, and then I installed the wrong button. Needless to say, I now have a bunch of brass that is primed and needs to be resized.
I have never attempted to resize brass with an unfired primer, but I am guessing it is possible. Should I pull the depriming...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I reload in the garage, and like most garages it is not climate controlled. For those of you who also reload in your garage, are you concerned about relative humidity? Is humidity a concern?
Two parts:
1.) In your best estimation/opinion, what is the best load for small game from squirrel to a 25lb pig? We are not talking eradication. We are talking harvesting, so while a 12ga with buckshot will do very nicely as far as the killing is concerned,... you get the idea...
Ladies & Gents,
I am contemplating a new scope, and this line of Leupold scopes has me interested. They seem like a nice mix of red-dot and conventional scope.
Tell me how you are using it (weapon/hunting type). Tell me your opinion.
Thanks.
At the range this morning, of the 24 rounds I chambered, I had three rounds fail to discharge.
Cleaned and resized once-fired Rem 7.62x39 brass.
Hornady 123gr SP over 24.5gr of H4198
CCI 200 seated at appropriate depth by Redding press-mounted primer bar.
Rifle: Savage 10 FCM Scout...
Gents,
I have a scope mounted in very nice Warne QR rings. Frustratingly, the front ring came loose when I bumped the QR lever.
What are your thoughts on using a little blue Loctite to guard against this from happening again?
Thanks.
-Travis
What would you load in your 7.62x39 brass for whacking hogs?
These are a selection of 123gr .310 bullets available through Midway:
Barnes TSX?
Hornady SP?
Hornady SST?
Speer Hot-Cor?
Thanks.
-Travis
Gents,
Savage recommends the use of .310 bullets in their 7.62x39 caliber rifle. It seems most dies of the same caliber are set up for .308.
Can anyone recommend a solution?
