    The Larry Goldstein Incident

I got that part. If you are looking at it from an ability, opportunity, and jeopardy scenario the opportunity part is not immediate. There is a change of venue required for the second assailant to make good on his threat. I think it is reasonable that the attacker was in flight (as did occur)...

    The Larry Goldstein Incident

The most interesting thing in the article to me is that he fired at the fleeing suspect without legal consequence. While reading through I had figured that was going to get him into legal trouble. It has been drilled into my head so often that shooting at a fleeing suspect is bad form. Like...

Guiding (Training) a Newbie from Scratch

It wasn't said or addressed, but when taking someone to the range, I often do not even shoot more than a shot or two. The event is about them, not me. I can shoot any time I want. As one of the fellows above mentioned, start at short ranges so they can experience some success (and less chance...

    Child-proofing your home defense arsenal

Not knowing the fullness of your situation, but well aware of your struggles with the kiddo, I would recommend not attempting to stage weapons in the home. I have two on the spectrum, the oldest (13yo) being moderate-high functioning and ADHD also, and the other being very high functioning so...

What and Where, Info for a new adult gun owner

If they are coming to you for advice, they already respect your opinion. Invite them to come to the range with you. Don't make too many hurdles to start, but run them through the 4 rules. Provide some ears and eyes for them. Show them the working of a gun on an unloaded firearm. Then start...

    Belly Band

Thanks for your post. I really like your idea. Since I don't make my own holsters, I can probably pick up another kydex and remove the j-hook from it and wrap it in velcro. I don't think I mind unholstering and swapping to another kydex holster in the dark. And then slipping it onto the...

    Belly Band

Due to a neck injury I need to get up and walk in the morning to loosen things up. That means I am usually walking in the dark, with a flash light clipped on the belt, and then also a concealed firearm on the hip. I've been burning through jeans at an amazing rate at the inseam so I picked up...

Active Shooter Drills May Not Stop A School Shooting — But This Method Could

One of the issue brought up against performing active shooter drills is that it traumatizes some children. They specifically call out a child who is ASD and ADHD being traumatized. As a parent with a child in the same category as that one I know that even fire drills sets my child off. The...

    Michigan Duty to Inform

Yesterday I was selling at a outdoor craft fair at a public library parking lot while carrying. There were a regular patrol of a pair of officers who went through the show. At one point one of the pairs stopped at our table and he started talking to us while the other officer moved off to...

Nifty way to store your in-car pistol for quick retrieval

Magnetic fields drop off at 1/r^3. Even a couple inches away (thickness of a seat) it is unlikely to affect credit cards.

    Michigan CPL and Church Permission

Our church recently bought a building, before we have been meeting in schools, and I approached the session about carrying on church property. According the the response from the pastor the attitude seemed positive, however, they wanted to do further discussion with other congregations in our...

    Blowback Around Case

All digits and eyeballs accounted for: Without being able to find exact information on IMR (powder) or the Nosler site (http://www.nosler.com/bullets/combined-technology.aspx 30-30 150gr RN), I used what seemed closest and went up to 30.5gr. Once I was over 30gr I noticed the blowback wasn't...

    Blowback Around Case

rcmodel, the Lyman 49 says 28.5gr for a jacketed RN, so I was using that as the load. And everything I read here says to not trust the internet for load data. However, when I did go to the IMR/Hodgdon site I see it does list your numbers. So, should I not trust Lyman 49 for accurate numbers...

    Blowback Around Case

I'm loading 30-30 with 28.5gr IMR-3031 with 150gr RN. I took a bunch out to shoot and wound up with some wavy blowback lines around the top of the case. They don't go the entire length of the case, just the top half inch or so. When I've loaded some light recoil rounds I don't recall the...

Finished Project: Carry Gun Car Holster

A couple questions: Do you pull the gun from your carry holster and put it into the steering column holster when you enter the car? Or are you somehow moving the carry holster to the steering column? If you are moving just the weapon, is the holster permanently affixed to the steering...

Okay... I think I'm finally ready. What else do I need?

A colander and a small trash bucket work great for removing cases from media. Though I didn't see any media listed in what you were picking up. A couple things I have on my bench, just looking around, but keep in mind I am just using a single stage press, so some things won't really matter...

    Rule #4

What sort of liability would a defending shooter have for hitting another person because of over penetration? I would assume in a true defense situation the defender would not be charged for hitting the bad guy. Also, in this instance in particular, does it make sense for the 17 year old...

Do you clean pistol primer pockets?

Yes, but I'm a noob and just doing what the books tell me. I'm terribly concerned I'll find one which tells me to jump off a bridge. I've use the tool that came with the Lee setup I bought, and chuck that into a drill. A quick zip and primer pocket is cleaner.
