Well I guess my budget would be like $1300 which would cover a PTR and some FALS. So is the PTR the same quality wise as the H&K? How do the SA58s compare to other FALs?

Thanks for the replies. I'm only looking at getting a G3 clone or FAL at the moment though. So would getting a PTR be just about the same construction-wise as an HK91? I don't want to spend over $1k and have a subpar rifle I guess.

How do PTR-91s stack up to the H&K-91s? How about DSA FALs? I've checked Falfiles and HKpro but the opinions vary a lot. Does anyone here have personal experience? I've heard DSA's quality has gone downhill recently with QC with their SA58s.

That's good to hear actually. I really am happy with my Glock but I'd like to add some diversity to my collection. Do you think the quality is on par with the P226s and Sig's "flagship" line?

I've had my FNP-9 since 2007 and still love it. It feels great, shoots well, and looks pretty cool. I've never had a single problem with it. It's also the easiest pistol to clean that I've ever owned. But I've heard it called "a Sig for less" and have to agree.

It's illegal for a felon to have a firearm. I'm not sure if it's illegal to try to buy one since it probably won't go through. A felon can't purchase body armor either.

I actually have refinished it already but I'd like the pistol grip handguard and a different color grip.

That's pretty neat because I'm not exactly on a budget but I would like to save the money if I could. And I'm not terribly worried about finish wear as long as it isn't really bad. Is it recommended to replace springs or anything after I get it? (If I get it).
