bolt action rifle with easily interchangable barrel?

Who makes such a thing? I thought it might be nice to have a bolt action rifle that can take different barrels, such as .223/.300 blackout without having to buy a whole new rifle. Ideally it would use AR barrels that are already common enough. I like the way the AR can be customized to...

How long can Pro-2nd Amendment folks withold 2nd Amendment cases to SCOTUS?

That's why we have federal courts and federal appeals courts. They strike down laws all the time, and the Supreme Court will take cases selectively based on what they find important, so as to not be bogged down by every person claiming standing. When it comes to laws that are blatant...

    NYS compliant VZ 58

So I'm considering a job in NY state, and looking at how not to have to sell my guns as part of possibly moving there. I saw on the czechpoint website that they now make a NYS compliant version with non-detachable 10 round magazine, rendering it no longer an "assault weapon", whatever that is...

    Rebarreling a Carcano

sights for 7.62x39 carcano I finally got around to figuring out a rear sight for this thing. A friend picked up a williams peep sight for a .308 bolt action he had from way back. I've always shot better with peep sights than open, so I decided to research this route. I ended up finding a...

    One last time Alabamaians.....

They also aren't quite ready to give out the 5 year ones yet. I had to renew, today, and it wasn't an option quite yet. maybe next year. Anyway, I'm glad that my state finally passed something like a sensible law.

    One last time Alabamaians.....

does anyone know the reasoning behind offering options for how long the permit is good? does it cost more for the 5 year permit? I can't see why a person would opt for a shorter term permit unless they were cheaper and said person didn't have the money to pony up for all 5 years.

    One last time Alabamaians.....

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I'm super psyched about this bill. The NRA is behind it 100%, and I can now go shooting at the local range before work, and can't be fired for leaving my guns locked safely away in my car while i'm at work. and if somehow I let my pistol permit lapse...

    Gun Guys book

Don't worry, I don't exist either. Welcome to THR, you'll find there are many good and interesting people here, sharing lots of good information. Though as with any forum, there are a few extremely paranoid types who can't see past their own prejudices and fear. pay them no mind and enjoy...

    Gun Guys book

I agree with the above statement 100%, and have been trying to talk to friends who are in the gun grabber camp about their stance, and convince them that most of what they lobby for, doesn't actually do what they think it does. I had one guy tell me that he is so frustrated with gun violence...

Any groups other than the NRA I can donate too?

yeah, LaPierre, is a <deleted> at best, but despite how crap he looks in public and how he comes off to most gun grabbers, the NRA and NRA-ILA have been pretty good at protecting our rights. I held my nose and paid my $35 bucks this year. you can too. If you don't like the rest of the NRA's...

    How do criminals obtain firearms?

Actually PBS and NPR get the vast majority of their funding from corporate sponsors (I'm sure they don't have any agenda at all…), charitable trusts/foundations, and from viewers/listeners during those horrid pledge drives.

Tom on Guntalk said 380 was now comparable to 9

penetration isn't everything. wound channel diameter makes a difference. it's simple math. for a given amount of muzzle energy you can have penetration or expansion. if you have enough energy in the projectile you get both.

The ammo shelves at cabellas look like they are going out of business.

Pawn shop in the next town over that is mostly a gun shop is asking 7.95/box of 50 for aguilla .22lr. Plus tax! I guess that's one way to keep the ammo on the shelves.

    LGS in Madison, Wisconsin

There used to be a great shop with a gunsmith on the far west side of town, rusk gunshop, but they closed down years ago. Madison law says no pistol sales in town, they were located out of town and got grandfathered when the area was annexed by the city. Was really sad to see them go, they had...
