Is $200 a good deal for a duty use Colt Trooper?

Unless its a mass of rust, GRAB IT!

I can remember as a kid going in to the neighborhood hardware store and buying a box of .22s (50 rounds) for fifty cents. ...

    Cimarron frontier - Ruger alternative.

I've got the Ruger New Vaquero in .357 mag and love it. Rugers are built like tanks and should last longer than we do. Also they stand behind their stuff. Excellent products.

    Diamondback in the rough

I'm in the same boat with Smith & Wesson. Sent a Highway Patrolman in for refinishing in early March. They told me at that time that turnaround was about 12 weeks as they're really backlogged. But I'm sure it'll be worth the wait as will be your Colt.

    S&W 28 value

The Model 28 was built like a truck and is unlikely to wear out in your lifetime. Finish is probably less than ideal as it's probably around 40 years old or so. If it were a 4" it might be valued slightly higher than the 6" as the 4's are a little harder to find than the 6". The Highway...

What is it about revolvers we like so much?

I carried a sidearm for 30 years as a LEO and for the majority of those years, they were revolvers. I've been retired for 22 years and still have a soft spot for the wheelguns. In fact most of mine are revolvers with only a few semi autos in the mix. One is the Beretta 92FC I carried OTJ for...

What is the last gun that you bought?

Picked up a LNIB S&W Model 24-6 (One of Smith's reintroductions of their "Classics") and a model 28-2 Highway Patrolman, circa 1972 which is currently at SW for refinishing. Love those Smiths.! :) Pics to follow.

    S&w 686

The 686 is an excellent revolver but that price is way out of line unless, as has been said, it's a performance center gun. Rugers are nice also - I've got both; and they're very nice.

VIDEO - First Look at Ruger Vaquero

I've got both the "original" Vaquero in 44-40 and the New Vaquero in .357 mag. Both are excellent revolvers and built like tanks as Rugers generally are. Original top - New bottom.

Would you buy a Taurus Revolver?

I've owned a number of Tauri; both revolvers and semi's. Only problem I ever had was a slightly rough double action on a 17 hmr Tracker but it was easily solved. Although I've sold/ traded them all over the past few years, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if the price was right and it was...

    Remington golden bullet explosion

My Ruger Mark III had numerous FTF with Remington Golden. As it was a brand new gun, I called Ruger and was told that the Mark III didn't like Remington Golden. In fact, they told me what the ammo was that was causing the problem BEFORE I told them. Worked ok in my .22 revolvers but Federal...

Why can't guns just be for fun?

I have a number of guns that I'd classify as "self defense" but they're still fun to shoot. Then I have some that are totally fun but, unless there were no other choice, I'd never consider for self defense. Such as this, one of my favorite "fun" units, the SW M&P 15-22.

    22LR Ammo Choices

My SW MP15-22. Why? Just because it's FUN!! Most fun with a .22 that I ever had.

    "American Guns" TV show.....

But one thing you have to admit - it's consistent. Consistently worse week after week. Think I've wasted enough time on this one.

    "American Guns" TV show.....

I'd watched one or two and just watched another I had DVR'd. When Rich had to ask "What's this?" as he picked up a BAR, that was too much -- he's an "expert?" right. And as has been said, the way he treats his employees, the helicopter he has on standby, and his duffel bag filled with 10's of...
