I echo - of course let her choose what is comfortable for her, and try lots of different frames and models.
On the recommendation of my local range owner, my daily carry is a CZ Rami. It is very comfortable for smaller hands and also easily concealable, along with the Kahr previously...
I was given a pistol grip Mossberg 500 for home self defense only, and I think I used to shoot it once a year at the range to make sure it was still functioning. It was hell on my hands and my entire arm used to ache after just a few rounds. The idea was that if you had to maneuver around...
Didn't want to make every one else look bad?
For us ladies:
Hair in my eyes
Makeup in my eyes
My eyelashes uncurled
But mostly - Too many eyes watching me shoot instead of paying attention to what they're doing!
Local gun shop that had an extremely helpful older gentleman owner went belly up!
Only big chain stores close to me now.
I drove to a 'local' shop on the other side of town, and after pointedly standing at the counter for an eternity <eek! A lone female - surely she's waiting for male...
I was taught to clean after using. So that usually means within a few hours of getting home from the range. (depends on how hungry I am - sometimes I'm going to eat first!)
I am surprised at the number of posters who leave this necessary chore for longer, or don't even perform it at all....
Under the bed - Mossberg 500 12g pump
A bit further but still to hand - 1911 Colt Commander with 'da beams' (that's a red laser for those uninitiated)
Still further but handy - CZ Rami, 9mm with FMJ
thereafter if I'm still kicking its down to martial arts weapons - the rifles are...
Saw a pup the other day named Ljutic.
My grandfather's bird dog was named Nigsy.
(to clarify - no racial overtones on Grandpa's dog, it was a tan spaniel named by my 2 year old uncle at the time, apparently an approximating of 'pig')
I've been burned both on the top of my head and forehead from hot brass. The forehead still occurred while I was wearing a ball cap though. I guess you can only do so much without wearing a full face shield! My forehead burn happened from bouncing off the side glass - just the right angle to...
Yes, we're not all here to accessorize for our husbands/boyfriends!
Some of us like to think we could take care of ourselves without having to be just 'backup'.
:)
I may be one of the few who had a positive experience with GM. Had to replace the bolt lock cover on my mini-14 and there was an inconvenient scope mount that was in my way, which had been put on by someone else. Could not find the proper wrench to remove it, so drove to GM since it was late on...
Sure, why not? Sometimes on the body, but always within easy reach (except when small children are visiting, then always directly in my control).
Except I have to agree with some other posters - no guns in the shower!
I prefer flat black, would never carry anything pink for fear that folks would think I had it merely as an accessory, and not as a functional tool. Its hard enough being taken seriously as a female shooter without having a frou-frou gun!
:)
I carry a handgun and folding knife.
But previously I was on the same campus as Pacerdude (UGA) where this was not allowed. Walking on campus I did have pepper spray in a keychain type holder. Note to everyone who has this type - although they say that they have failsafes so that there is...
Looks like I came late to this party. However here is my mini-14, good looking and more reliable than many men I know! :)
I do usually use larger mags at the range.
Going back to the OP's original question - how does a woman bring up the topic to a potential dating partner? I must admit for me it often does not come up on a first date... there is too much 'so what do you do? and where did you grow up?' to get beyond anything very general. However...
Old Krow,
I figured that it had more to do with the fact that I don't go to the range to flirt, I'm there for 'business' and I guess everyone respects that. But one of the other posters put that out there as a possibility for the OP for meeting women. I've just never personally experienced it!
