    RN, RS, or FP??

Thanks for the replies, Right now I'm using the Berry's .40 180 gr. FP because that's what was on the shelf at Sportsman's They fed and fired just fine, and I already have a load worked up for them so I'll just stick with the FPs. I was just curious if there might be a "better" option.

12 gauge spent casing ejection issue

No worries, the 870 and 500 references were more about the posts about ammo issues.

    RN, RS, or FP??

Just wondering what the difference between the Berry's bullet shapes are, and if there is one that would be better for me to use. I'm looking at the .40 180 grain shot in a XDm for practice/plinking.

12 gauge spent casing ejection issue

Thanks for the replies. I'll try some different shells, any suggestions on what to try? Animator, I'm confused by your post. My shotgun is a single shot break action, so there is no next shell.

12 gauge spent casing ejection issue

I just purchased a Harrington & Richardson "pardner" 12 gauge modified choke. I gave it a good cleaning, and took it to the range. The first shell fired and ejected fine, the second fired fine but didn't want to eject. I closed the breech and opened it a few times and it finally popped out...

    Mosin Nagant numbers???

I just picked up a Mosin Nagant, I got it and a 12 g shotty for $100, and it was kind of an impulse buy. I've been doing a bit of research on it, and I keep seeing people refer there's as a 91/59 or a 91/30. What do these numbers mean, and how can I tell what mine is? Thanks, Troy

    nickel Plated Brass

I'm not an expert, but I have seen the answer to this one before. The difference besides the obvious color difference, is negligible when it comes to reloading. They reload the same way as regular brass, however some say it does not survive as many loading, and wears out faster.

    .40 S&W load W/ W231????

Thanks for the replies! Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I've been told that the Berry's are very similar to the Speer TMJ's and to use that data for them. It seems to me that 4.1 gr. Would be a good start point for both bullets and maybe a 5.3 max

    .40 S&W load W/ W231????

Working up a load for a 180 gr. round nose cast bullet. The Lyman's manual shows a 175 gr, flat nose start 4.3 max 5.8. Should I just use this data, or should I go slightly below? Also loading Berry's 180 gr. rs I've been previously told that Berry's are very similar to speer tmj (so I...

How much is too much deviation in a powder charge?

I was thinking true blue because I can get some to try. If someone wants to send me 100 gr. of silhouette that'd be awesome :) Update range report: I shot all 20 rounds, alternating with factory reloads I usually shoot, and factory Winchester. 2 rounds factory - 2 rounds reloads. the reloads I...

How much is too much deviation in a powder charge?

well it seems +- .25 gr. is a bit high, but not in the range of dangerous or out of control. I'm gonna shoot the 20 I made. and see how they do. They are nowhere near max, the 5.7s may be to light though. If I don't like the variance, I'll try a different powder. I'm kinda interested in the...

How much is too much deviation in a powder charge?

Okay shotgun approach to responses: What is a good ball powder to try??? I'm using a MTM digital scale... I have the Lee safety scale, but that thing pisses me off. Maybe I'll try some more tomorrow using that too!

How much is too much deviation in a powder charge?

Using the Lee Classic Turret with the Lee Auto Disc Powder Measure. Reloading for .40 s&w with Unique. Auto disc hole #71 I'm getting 5.7-6.2 grains. I ran about 15 cycles before i began weighing, and re-tared my scale with each charge. Is .5 grains normal deviation, or am I doing something...

    OAL/Seating depth question

I did a search for oal, and came across a thread that outlined the "drop in bbl, press fired brass onto bullet, subtract .020 to ensure proper headspacing" technique. It also lead me to Walkalong's image intensive thread. I understand how both of those work, but my question is: Once I determine...
