    Looking for a 40 S&W load

Hey, I just picked up a new mould, the RCBS 180 gr. FP for my .40 S&W, but load data seems to be a bit scarce. I'll be shooting 'em out of my XD-40. The powders that I have currently that I believe would work are bullseye and unique. Thanks Rob -- 66gt350

    1858 Remington question

I've tried doing some searches without any luck. I'm wanting to get an 1858 Remmie. But what exactly is the difference between and 1858 Army and an 1858 New Army? Thanks Rob

    Vaquero with a heavy trigger

Never mind...I took it over lunch to the local smith. And there was a problem with the original springs binding. He put in a set of wolf springs, and the problem's solved. Rob

    Rainier load info needed

Hey, I've picked up some of the 125 gr. JFP for my .357. I've read that I'm not supposed to use the load data for jacketed bullets for these. So, I am looking for a good starting point. I'll be using Alliant 2400 for the powder. And they'll be shot out of a 4" S&W revolver. Any help...

    EFK Fire Dragon Conversion

I bought the 9mm conversion for my XD-40 recently after hearing how well people liked them and how well they performed. I got mine in the mail today. And well to put it mildly, I am less than satisfied. First, it seems like the chamber is very tight. I actually had my dummy round get stuck...

    45 LC rifle load

I just picked up a Cimmaron 1860 Henry in 45LC with a 255 gr LFN, and I'd like to find some nice mild loads to load up. Most of the data that I've been able to find have been for pistol loads. The speer #13 only shows one load for a rifle and that's with a 230 gr bullet. I'm hoping to keep...

    Optics problem

I was given a scope the other day, a Simmons 3x9. Nothing special, but good enough to put on an ole .22 that I've lying around for awhile. I put it on...no problems. But the intresting part began when I started bore sighting the scope. The adjustments react the opposite of what they should...

    Quick case dimension question

Does anyone have a Speer or other manual present to get me some dimensions on the 45 LC brass. I want to do some quick calcs, but forgot the manual. I'm looking for the inside and out side dimensions of the case. Thanks Rob

    Brass spliting

I recently bought an old m1 carbine at a local gun show. Overall it's in great condition. I don't know the te or the muzzle wear. I also bought a sardine tin of Lake City 44 ammo. This is virgin milsurp, not reloads. I've taken it out shooting a couple of times, and I always get about...

    C&R application question

I just received the packet with the C&R application, and already I have a question. Question 10. A. Are you in possession of a valid hunting license or permit lawfully isued in the United States. To which, I would answer NO - I don't have a hunting license. Under that it states if "yes"...

    Enterprise Arms M14

Hey, I'm looking at my next acquisition, a M1A/M14. I'm staying away from the newer Springfield Armory, Inc. M1A's, because they use a cast reciever -- not milled or forged. I've run into a couple of M14's that the reciever is made by Enterprise Arms. The guy selling them says that the...

    Reloading Corrosive question

Recently, I picked up an old Garand and some ammo. I didn't research the ammo very well...and well...it turned out to be the corrosive KA ammo. I really don't want to deal with the extensive cleaning afterwards so I plan on pulling the bullets and reloading it. Is only the primer corrosive...

    Military pulldown bullets

I was wonder how many of you are using the military pulldown bullets. I was thinking of picking up some .223 for my AR and Rem. 700, until a guy at the local shop stated that using the pulldown bullets would ruin my barrel. He stated that any marks on the bullets from the pulling process will...

    45 Colt question

I've been thinking of making up some loads for my Ruger Vaquero in 45LC. After doing a bit of reading and research, I know that the normal lube on the cast bullets is bad. My question is what about the dry lube bullets? How well will those work with black powder? thanks Rob

    A what's it worth question

I'm looking for some quick info on a used gun. A local shop has a Uberti Walker, used, in the case. And it seems a little pricey. They want $450 out the door for it. I know that Dixie Gunworks has them for around $350, with a normal blued barrel. This local one has the charcoal...

    Blackpowder measurements question

Ok...I'm a semi-newbie when it comes to black powder pistols. I've got a colt replica that came with the flask and correct powder measurer, and everything is happy. I'm planning on getting a new one and I've been doing some reading and research, and everywhere it states that the powder...

    Ruger Old Army

I'm contemplating getting a Ruger Old Army. I found a used one that is in good shape that was made back in the mid 70's and it comes with a bunch of accessories. The one I'm looking at is the stainless model with the 7.5' barrel. From what I've read, these are really good guns. The...

    Just got a S&W 19-5

While I was on vacation, a new gun (well actually a used gun) followed me home :D . I picked up a nickel S&W, 19-5 with a 4" barrel. The only flaw that I found is there are a couple of slight scratches on the right side of the frame. While I was there looking at it, a local gunsmith came in...

    Case weight discrepancies

I'm going to be loading a bunch of .233 for an up coming varmit hunting trip. I've got 400 pieces of brass, all the same headstamp. I've resized, removed the primer crimp, and trimmed. But when I weigh them...they seem to be two different lots. One "lot" averages about 102 - 103 grains...

    Military or Commercial

I have some 223 brass that the jury is out on whether it's military or commercial. The headstamp is "PMC" and "223" which says commercial. But it looks like the primers are crimped in like military brass. Some of the brass has the crimp around the entire primer, but most have what looks like...
