Thank you
Thank you all for your opinions have been offline for a few weeks. Since the post I shot both pistols again and I decided to buy another Sig. It just felt better and I am already used to the ergonomics and functionality.
I currently own a Sig P226 and want to add another 9mm to my arsenal. I can't decide between a Glock 17 or Beretta. I know it is all preference but I am looking for reliability, ability to add a light/laser and ease of finding parts.
Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks
Thanks everyone. I think the verdict is clear. SW Sport it is going to be. I was looking at the Keltec more for ease of mag changes and price. The mini is off the table simply because it doesn't take AR mags and it is harder to mount optics on a mini.
First off I live in California and I am on a budget. I want to buy a .223 and am trying to decide between a SW Sport or a Keltec SU16. The pros the SW is an AR platform and is getting great reviews for as much as I am going to shoot it I don't care about the dust cover or charging handle. I can...
I have an SP2022 in 9mm and love it. I believe it is the only polymer framed Sig out there. Does anyone know if the magazines for a 228 will work in the SP2022?
I thought about selling mine one time then I woke up and realized I will never get rid of it. They can't even keep these pistols in stock in San Diego. I don't think you will have any problem selling it if you want to.
I have a suggestion why don't you rent one at a range and shoot it before...
Buy her a Ruger SP101 revolver with a 3" barrel she can run 38sp in it with better control from the longer barrel. It is in your price range and that gun will flat out last through thousands of rounds. Not too many moving parts just point and shoot. Keep it simple for her.
These would be my choices on your budget
Ruger SP101 3" $400
Sig SP2022 9mm, $350
Browning Buckmark $300
Mossberg 12 guage combo that has 18" barrel and 28" hunting barrel, $270
All under your $1500 budget possibly a Mini 14 also
I own a Ruger SP101 3" and a Sig SP2022 9mm(new name for Sig Pro) and as far as shooting I love them both but the Sig is much easier on my wallet when it comes to shooting. 38 special and 357 is just too expensive to go shoot paper. You can reload your 9mm or just buy it for $12 a box and shoot...
I have an SP101 with the 3" barrel and crimson trace grips on it and the .357 loads are manageable. My wife hates shooting them but they are very manageable. I do have to suggest not shooting the CCI Blazer Non reloadable aluminum cased .357's through your SP101 I shot a box of them through mine...
The holster has not been a big issue for me since 1. I have it as a HD gun so I don't need to carry the pistol 2. I live in CA so it is almost impossible to get a concealed carry permit. I just would like the option to carry my SP101 if I want to without changing out my grips.
BTW my wife has no issues shooting the full load .357's but we usually run 38 special through it and have 38+P hollow points loaded in it for HD. The weight of the pistol helps offset any muzzle flip and recoil
I own a 3" barreled SP101 with the crimson trace laser grips and they are an awesome addition to the gun. My only issue with the grips is that no one makes a holster for the 3" SP101 with the laser grips. The laser sticks out from the grip enough to cause it not to fit in any holster. I have...
Thank you everyone for the info. I think my course of action will be to take it down, clean it thoroughly, slightly polish the feed ramp with a cleaning cloth and then run a few hundred rounds of FMJ's through it then start testing out boxes of HP until I know it will eat anything.
Sidenote...
I just bought a Sig SP2022 9mm and I bought some Hornady 9mm Hollow points for home defense. The guy at the gun store said that I should run at least 1 magazine of the hollow points through my pistol to see if they work. He said that the Sigs have issues feeding hollow points. Has anyone else...
I have an SP101 .357 with the 3" barrel and my wife does not like shooting the full load .357's but has no issues shooting 38 special through it. I love this gun and have it for my HD gun loaded with 38+P hollow points I would definately recommend spending the money to rent one and see how she...
I just bought the Sig SP2022 and was in the same dilemma between it and the FNH FNP 9for me it boiled down to price. I was able to pick up the Sig for $460 out the door and the FN would have run me over $650. I shot the Sig today and it was totally reliable and accurate. I was shooting 2" groups...
I have a Ruger SP101 .357 revolver as my primary HD gun. My reasoning is it is going to sit in my drawer and when I need it, it will always go bang. I don't have to worry about springs getting worn out or any mechanical failures when I go to shoot it. Plus it is easy for the wife to use if she...
I just purchased a Sig SP2022 in 9mm without shooting it. I have shot the older Sig Pro .40 and liked it. I was debating between purchasing the Sig SP2022 and the FNH FNP 9 but I was able to buy the Sig for $460 out the door so it came down to price. Did I make the right choice? Any thoughts?
