Pohill It appears to have been unfired, except maybe proofing at the factory, no powder burns or scorching around nipples or on hammer.

Re: Articap The proof date is Cl in the little box, my list of proof dates goes only to 2009, so this paterson must be a recent build, and yes there was some black residue in the chambers.

    Observation/question about my paterson

While I had the cylinder off the pistol frame last evening, I discovered something interesting, if I cocked the hammer and released it by pulling the trigger, after about the third time I did this, the hammer locks up, can't cock it again. I was watching that rotating collar on the arbor that...

Sooo, last evening I was sitting in front of the boob tube, watching the political debate and playing with my Paterson. Decided to see how well that loading tool (wrench end) worked, so removed the barrel and cylinder and began removing the firing cones. The threads of the first cone was...

    Permanent Fund Revolver & Friend

Great pistol Cosmoline. I have a fluted 1860 Army that is over 30 years old, and still shoots great. Have changed the springs, bolt stops, hands, numerous times in the past. I feed all my colt armies .454 round balls, except for my Walkers and dragoon which prefere .457's.

A couple more of my shooters

My 1866 is .45LC, I looove that rifle! A year ago I did some minor gunsmithing on it. I replaced the flat hammer spring with a twin coil spring gizmo from Pioneer gunworks. This rquired some minor filing under the hammer frame and reaming out the stock so it would fit over the springs...

Well, unfortunately that Volcanic pistol is a total fake. I bought it a couple years ago from a company that makes non-firing replicas (movie guns/stage props). That action does work on it, working the lever raises the cart. carrier block, cocks the hammer. It loads like a Henery rifle...

    My Texas Paterson has arrived!

CraigC I have a book "COLT single action, from Patersons to Peacemakers" by Dennis Adler. Got it from Amazon about two years ago. Has great pictures of original Colt's revolving cylinder Ring rifles. He was making these rifles before he began on his Patersons (of which there were numerous...

Jim, west pa Oooh, yea. I should have sold the .50 & .45 TC's and kept the Seneca and Patriot. Both of them were dead-on nail-drivers. Oh well, guess everyone is allowed to do something stupid every once in awhile.

    My Texas Paterson has arrived!

Hi, everyone! I'm a new poster though I have been lurking on this forum for a couple of months. Got my Colt Texas Paterson from Dixie GunWorks yesterday, the magic man in his brown delivery van dropped it on my front stoop. I was rather impressed with his pistol, hadn't seen a real live...
