Sear spring prep
I guess I always thought that the Gold Cups already had a lighter Sear spring and I don't want to tweak the leaf and end up with a gun that goes full auto. I'll read the sear prep link. Thanks.

I've recently picked up a series 70 Gold Cup. It shoots great but the trigger is 5 1/2 pounds. I'd like to drop it to 4 pounds for Bullseye competition. If you'd explain the extra parts in a GC (not to be confused with the series 80 non-Gold Cup) for other readers of this thread, that might...
I have an H&R M12 that I'll never shoot in competition. I was thinking about rechambering it to 22wmr. Will the bolt/lock handle the added pressure? It looks like there's plenty of throw. Wouldn't this be a sweet little varmint gun?

OK, so hold the base of the spring in a wood block vise slightly above the junction of the three legs, press on the center of the bow from the inside then bend the sear end away from the center of the bow.
Got it! Thanx!
I do have a pull guage, How would I use that to measure the...
I need to slightly increase the weight of trigger pull on my 1911. ~1/4#. Is there an art to the science of bending the leg of trigger spring? Start at the bottom? Middle? End of the tang?
Swap the spring for a different one?

This is exactly where you want to go with a new gun to you. A formal competition is just that, and you'd expect some protocol to be observed. But an informal gathering is where someone will test something they're not not yet comfortable to shoot in competition yet. Personally, I'd get a few...
That rifle is a bit lighter than others, so in 30-06 form, it will have a bit more felt recoil. In 270win, it should feel very near what that 7x57 would. And 270win would be more than adequate for your hunt environment.

I bought an XL7 in 270 win for my 14yr old son.
I've shot it. It think it's the best bang for the buck for the lower priced hunting rifles. His shoots less than MOA with hand loads. The trigger is similar in adjustment to the Savage Accu trigger. 'Sweet'. and the recoil pad is the best I've...
I didn't ask for an explanation of MOA. I friggin know what it is!
And,.. I've seen rifles shoot less than MOA at short distances, that WILL NOT shoot the same load within MOA at longer distances. The amount of flight time does have effect on an unstable bullet. Just to be stable enough for a...
Funny, the comments about getting serious about Bullseye and leaving the 41behind or needing anatomical grips...
My Ruger without anatomical grips has earned me NRA Master this season. The 41 is certainly capable of that in pretty much stock trim.
Is the 41 a training gun I would hand to...
I walked in to my local gun store.. Kesselrings in Alger, Wa. the other day. Must have had 20,000 large pistol, some 5,000 small and large rifle primers on hand. Winchester. Some 209's, and other shotie primers. I grabbed a brick of 1,000 large pistol for $33.00.
I do that once every couple...
I use the Fed 200's interchangably with CCI550 primers for small pistol magnum loads. They are a bit warmer, so you should reduce load a touch and test if you're on the high end of your charge. If you're middle of the road, I wouldn't worry. I've never had issue with them in the mid range...
I have both! Both SS. The SP101 is the truck gun so I guess it gets carried more often now'a days. But over the years, I'll bet that my Officers ACP has been carried more.
-Steve
I reload amunition for my immediate family. Have I ever for others? Yeah, I've slipped up by giving someone a box of loads a time or two, but I don't reload for anyone by request. Answer is: Come to my place. I'll teach you. You do the work with my equipment. That's how I learned, was on...
