    FAL Magazines

I'm taking possession of an R1A1 Sporter tomorrow and I'm curious who sells the best magazines, and are there any to steer clear from?

    Forgot Mauser.

    6.5x55

I shoot mine as often as possible. I have not, however, used the Hornadys you speak of. I tend to stick with anything in and around the 140 grain weight, as they tend to group best for me out of the ole 1913 M96.

    Hungarian M44 Bolt Issue

It does indeed headspace properly. It seemingly unlocks just a little easier than I like.

    Hungarian M44 Bolt Issue

Update: There is still tension and the same amount of up/down movement and resistance with the bolt head removed.

.303 Jungle Carbine Sell or reload

I think you outta reload for 303 Brit. 308s are a dime a dozen. There's something special about tripping the trigger on a critter with a rimmed cartridge and a cock-on-close action.

    Hungarian M44 Bolt Issue

I guess I didn't explain too well. I own many Mosins, as many if not more than some here, so I'm aware of bolt slop. I love the slop, eat the slop. This is vertical play in the bolt handle "lug" when the action is locked. I've never seen, nor heard of it. Ill take pictures in awhile. I...

    9mm Carbine!

I'm fond of the Hi Point myself. The magazine capacity sucks, but once you get past that and become a proficient reloader, it becomes a non issue. Kel Tec S2Ks I've had the displeasure of firing had garbage triggers, toy-flimsy sights, and were almost TOO light as to be difficult to keep on...

    Hungarian M44 Bolt Issue

I recently purchased yet another Mosin carbine, a very clean Hungarian that matches all but the bolt. Bolt closes and opens, locking and unlocking just fine with a very smooth operation, however: When the bolt is in the closed/locked position, it does not seat firmly against the receiver...

    reconsidering 5.56mm

You're pushing a bullet that's roughly 45+ grains heavier than the standard 762 Soviet round at nearly 300 fps faster. Not really apples to apples. Take your same chosen load, barrel length, and even your magic 30-30 round doesn't compare to 308 win, and has a laughable BC. No one loads a...

    reconsidering 5.56mm

I have heard that about 545, but I've no experience of it myself. As for the AR, are you going 556?

Get a Mosin or save for something else?

...and they take deer just fine.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you're in good health sir.

Get a Mosin or save for something else?

The ammo is not gone, only the will of some to look.

Get a Mosin or save for something else?

It is still beyond me why some people are saying the 762x54R is getting scarce. Its EVERYWHERE! And its still generally cheap. Check Armslist, J&G, Buds, your local gun shop, heck, check Walmart! I can't go to the hardware store without it being in stock.

    M48 Mauser or Finn M39?

Some research over at 7.62x54R.net tells me that early production rifles used a wood blatantly referred to as Arctic birch, with later rifles that had been spliced using Baltic birch. You are not far off sir.

    What's similar to a Model 10?

Gorgeous sir. Absolutely art at its barest and raw nature. Oh, and the Colt is nice too.

    M48 Mauser or Finn M39?

Seems kinda light, but I think that with a pine tar treatment, its entirely possible that you may be correct. Caribou may know the answer to this conundrum.

    reconsidering 5.56mm

I'll aid in this as soon as I can. I too would like to see a comparison test at distances beyond point blank range in test media. As soon as I can squirrel the necessary items, ill PM you. As an aside, I have the ability to go to at maximum 500 yards give or take, so 0-500 is an option.
