Is the new Cabot Gun 'Southpaw' more expensive than a custom piece from a gunsmith?

Guess it was a longshot. Just tired of living in righty's world, that's all. Would like to have the same advantages and comfort as the average right handed person. Left handed implements are always more expensive, but at 9 percent of the population, we're a specialty crowd. Don't get me wrong, I...

Is the new Cabot Gun 'Southpaw' more expensive than a custom piece from a gunsmith?

I'm a lefty. Obvious, I guess. While I realize that the Southpaw is a performance piece, suitable for competition and those with deep pockets, the price of this and other lh 1911s (Randall, etc.) begs the question: could a gunsmith offer a lower quote? Could it be cheaper to mod an existing 1911...

    Identifying a Smith and Wesson pre-model 36...

Thanks for the advice, guys. I didn't really know what I had there. There's a retired cop who works as a gunsmith in Nashville. I'll have him do the work on it. I think I can trust him. My granddad taught him to shoot!

Not sure. All I can be sure of is the inability of the S&W website to identify it based on structural characteristics or identifying no. sequences. This is really my last try before I give it a quick brush and oil and shelf it.

Also found a 5-digit number on the inside of the frame beneath the ejector. 24756. Sorry about that.

And mea culpa for the lousy pic. Had to use my webcam. Never gets the levels right.

    Identifying a Smith and Wesson pre-model 36...

This smith has seen better days, and a good deal of action. It was carried either by my granddad, or great granddad (his father-in-law). Planning to give it a good cleaning, but I would like to find a schematic first. For this I need to identify the model. Recurring model no. is 612022. No...
