    Need M1 help/advice

Well, I just cleaned her up tonight, but did not totally dis-assemble. As I mentioned to Orlando, overall, everything looks pretty good. Everything works very smoothly. The barrel was dirty and cleaned up nicely; very little corrosion at all. So tonight was just a quick clean and oil. I don't...

    Need M1 help/advice

You may know the story that I bought my 35 year old son a M1-Garand for his master's degree graduation. It's a surprise. It was manufactured in March of 1943 per the serial number and appears to be all correct and original. I took it out today to shoot it for the first time so that when I do...

    UFH Bayonet

Some dated... So do I understand that UFH only made bayonets in 1942 and 1943 years only? Does the serial stamping on the guard portion near the tang indicate anything at all? Thanks for the info. Someone said if it did not have a date, it wasn't real????

    UFH Bayonet

Just received a UFH bayonet. It does NOT have a date but does have the flaming bomb on the tang and UF, but NO date. However, the guard does have some numbers stamped into it. The scabbord also has the flaming bomb. So how do I know this is WWII vintage? It is NOT the 16" blade length...

    My M1 Garand purchase

The right M1 ammo. Well, I did buy some very nice 1943 vintage M1 Garand ammo in a original bandoleer with six fully loaded clips. I doubt my son will ever shoot more than these. However, I see that Cabelas has special M1 Garand ammo by Hornaday. They load it especially for M1 Garands to...

    My M1 Garand purchase

Kind words appreciated Certainly thanks for all the kind words here.:D I also enjoyed reading some of YOUR stories/replies. All in all, I think I did OK. He will never hunt with it b/c he does not hunt. We do like to pistol shoot often. I just think when I hand him this M1, he might just be...

Hello. I'm new to this forum and wanted to share this M1 Garand story. My 35 year old son has been a history buff for many years. And of course he has watched all the WWII movies, both real and movie screen i.e. Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers etc. But the one thing that always caught his...
