I should add that my impression was that it didn't seem very high quality in terms of fit, finish, and feel. It did function full-auto though for probably close to 1000 rounds that I saw go through it.
I had one chance to put a couple mags full through one a couple years ago. It was pretty unusual to operate, but it put a huge grin on my face. For real world use an MP5 is far more practical, but not as memorable.
Thanks for the responses. I just finished putting it back together. Everything looked OK internally to my untrained eye. It was clean and lubed - even better now, but still has the problem. It is on more than one chamber, but I haven't tried to keep track of which ones exactly. I think...
I have a Ruger Vaquero .44 Magnum that I purchased new in about 1993. I am experiencing a problem with the cylinder over-rotating upon cocking the hammer. Everything works correctly when operating it in slow motion, but when I cock the hammer a little more smartly the bolt fails to catch and...
I load .280 for a Browning A-Bolt and a Rem. 700. I have had the best results with Reloder 22 and IMR 4831. My current favorite loads are with 140 gr Barnes TSXs and 160 gr Nosler Partitions. I can work up to about 2950fps with 140s and maybe 2750 with 160s with either powder. The A-Bolt has...
I don't have any experience trying it, but my understanding is that 00 doesn't fit very well in the 20 gauge. Buckshot must be layered so some sizes don't work as well as others. That's not to say you can't though.
The Rock Chucker kit looks pretty good to me and is probably the only kit I would recommend to someone starting to reload. I have found it to be priced pretty well for what you get. I specifically like the press, scale, powder measure, and hand primer. I would prefer a different loading...
Thanks for all the replies. I am sure that it was fired in my gun and that it was factory new Remington Premier Match ammo. I have never fired anything in the gun besides copper jacketed bullets out of standard brass cases. The rounds were clean before firing.
I think if it did just rip off...
I picked up this .223 Remington brass after shooting my AR yesterday and noticed that one of the case mouths appeared to be ripped off. The brass on the right side is for comparison. I'm just wondering if anybody knows what may have caused this.
Here are the particulars: Gun was a Colt...
My experience is right in line with GRUMULKIN. I shoot both Barnes TSXs and conventional bullets in two of my rifles. I have not found TSXs to be bad for fouling at all and don't see any accuracy problems.
I do clean all my guns after shooting and occasionally concentrate on getting...
I spooked a very nice mulie from the next coulee I was headed to by trying to shoot a coyote. I swore them off while big game hunting after that. It might not have been so bad if I had actually hit the darn thing.
My approach is a little bit different than what you are suggesting. Maybe it's just because I'm a cheapskate.
I start with the bullet I want to use. I then try 2-3 different powders using a constant seating depth (.020" off the lands). If those loads show promise I will then play with...
I haven't done either, but my guess is that a 375 H&H would probably make less of a mess than a 25-06 if you happened to clip the shoulder of a deer inside 200 yds or so. My experience is that high velocity tends to destroy more meat than energy. Some call it the "eat right up to the hole"...
I'm not an old-timer yet either, but the guns I have that I will never part with once belonged to my favorite old-timer: Grandpa. He fostered my love of hunting and shooting from an early age and there are way too many memories to share here.
The guns include a Winchester Model 94 30-30...
The small flakes definitely should not be there. Is it possible that there was some different leftover powder in you powder measure or trickler when you loaded them? Does the stuff out of the canister have the flakes in it? If it does then I would notify Alliant right away. I wouldn't think...
I put a Bushnell Trophy 4-12X AO on my heavy barrel 10/12 and am very happy with it. If I ever buy another scope with parallax ajustment I will look for one with side focus even though they might be more expensive. Kind of a pain to have to pull the gun down and look each time you need to adjust.
