i've just purchased a Ruger Mark III Target model pistol and was wondering what ammo is reliable and good to shoot. I dont care what price range as long as it shoots good and has rarely any FTF problems.
So I just got back from the range and shot some of my reloads for 45 acp and some 45 acp factory federal ammo. I notice that when i was cleaning the primer pockets that the federal cartridges i bought from Wal mart had a 45 ACP head stamp with 2 dots on it and the fed reloads i had made also had...
Just Wanted to know how you would go about knowing when you have done a light crimp or taper crimp on the bullet using lee taper crimp or factory crimp dies.
Has anyone tried Titegroup powder on either 45Acp 230 gr or 308 win 168gr-175gr? I just bought some because someone recommended me to try it with 230 gr lead bullets.
Did the Lee manual actually list 2 different OAL's for those powders or are the bullets different with the data? The powder itself doesn't dictate the OAL, the bullet does.
It would make sense what you are saying, but you also have to know that not all powders are the same. It would be...
to Kevin Rohrer: You might want to look up your info again. I double checked my lee, lyman and hogdon load data and the load you are using is too high. You must be using a TMJ 230 gr bullet which kind of matches your load but an FMJ 230 gr bullet does not.
thanks rfwobbly for the response. I am planning on gettting fed brass in bulk and also save some of the casings that i shoot from fed factory ammo. Nowadays you can barely find win brass in stock. I checked online and the are always out of stock.
to ImjinScout: According to the lee manual, for the titegroup the OAl is 1.20 like you stated and for Unique 1.27. I will probably make a dummy round to 1.27 and try to see if my gun accepts it and ejects it without problems. Thank you for the advise.
I was just wondering if anyone has loaded federal brass with 45 Acp 230gr lead bullets. I heard from some people that Federal and Remington cases are to soft and that i should stick with Starline and Winchester brass. Let me know with what type of brass you have loaded with.
Another good use of the bullet puller is to use it on a spent casing with no primer to adjust your bullet seating die. That can be your dummy round so when you need to make an adjustment just pull the bullet out of the dummy round and reseated again with the new adjustment. That way you dont...
Hi guys,
I recently bought .452 230gr RN Match grade hardcast bullets from MidAtlantic Bullets to reload for my Glock 30sf. Now lets keep this post about reloading and not about the glock barrels as some people think its not safe to shoot thru a polygonal rifling barrel or a barrel that does...
