Has anyone tried Titegroup powder on either 45Acp 230 gr or 308 win 168gr-175gr? I just bought some because someone recommended me to try it with 230 gr lead bullets.

Titegroup isn't the best with lead but if your bullets are the correct hardness and diameter for the load and barrel you are using it will work fine.

Titegroup works well at starting loads which is why people like to pair it up with lead bullets. BUT - If you are using the wrong bullets (too hard or too small) you'll get some lead streaks just past the forcing cone as burning gasses flow around your bullet, gas cut the lead and solder your barrel.

The bullets are the key much more than the powder.

I use Titegroup for both 200 grain LSWC for my .45ACP, and 225 grain lead round nose for .45 Colt. Works fine for both.

TG burns fairly hot compared to other powders. Some bullet manufactures recommend against using TG with their bullets.

I'm not a big fan of TG, but it'll work for target loads. Using it for more powerful loads, expecially with heavier bullets, will mean higher pressures for the same velocity compared to slower powders.

... or 308 win 168gr-175gr?

Please tell me you're kidding. TG is a fast pistol powder, pretty much the opposite of what you want in a rifle.

Do NOT use titegroup in .308. You won't find data for it in that caliber, and if somebody tells you they are using it, run away.

lol. the very own Hogdon and lee load data have titegroup listed for 168 gr bullet. Look it up

Yeah, they have it listed with a max of 1080 FPS. That's going to be a load used for fire forming brass, not general shooting. That's less total energy than you'll get out of your 45, more on par with 40 S&W.

Titegroup works very well for .45 ACP. I did not like it with lead, but worked great for 230 gr FMJ. 5.1 grains of Titgroup with the 230 gr. bullet gave me very good results in my Kimber

Titegroupis designed for hand guns,I would not use it in my rifles . I have tried it in various caliber handguns, it's ok but I tend to stay with what works for me.
like bullseye, unique 231 and 2400.

I use 4.5 grains of Titegroup in a cast lead 230 grain round nose 45 boolit. Works well for me and my Sig P220.

Titegroup is a great choice for LSWC at target velocities. I use a load of 4.4gr. Titegroup with a 200gr. LSWC for 810fps. Nice, very accurate load and more than enough for the 25 and 50yd line. I usually only clean the bore after 500-600rounds and have never seen leading.

Never understood why some people think that it's not good for lead? My guess is that bullet hardness AND correct size is more of a factor there than the powder used.
