"Johnny's Reloading Bench" has decent videos of pretty thorough testing for 300 Black out Sub Sonic loads. He develops and tests load data for many powders and projectiles running each over a chronograph and then accuracy tests the best combinations...
I have converted some 223 brass and bought some 300 AAC brass. I found some reasonably priced 300 so pretty much just use it.
I realize you have a carbine length system but I can only share my experience. I have a 10.5" AR pistol and run an Omega 300 suppressor. It functions well with sub...
I've been away from the forum for a long time and was shocked and saddened to find that RC had passed. He was always so willing to share his experience and knowledge and it made newbies like me feel very comfortable asking questions. RC you will be missed by all that you touched.
Success!
I used my FA pocket cleaner on the cases and it was slow but did the trick. I am now able to seat the CCI 400 primers to .004" below flush with the case head. With that limited success I was able to begin my work up for my S&W M&P 15.
I went with 2.250" OAL
CFE223 powder, CCI...
After sleeping on it I tried seating some more of the CCI SR primers and with much effort some seated to just below flush. It seems like a lot of pressure (perhaps too much) is needed to accomplish below flush seating on these once fired Federal 5.56 cases.
Next as suggested I measured the...
Xring its interesting you mention non-uniform pockets because that is what I think I'm seeing. The pockets appear to have a bit of a slope in the bottom. I thought I was imagining it but will get a pocket uniform tool and try it.
I will continue to look things over tomorrow with fresh eyes...
I have been reloading pistol for a few years and have just begun loading 5.56/223 for my AR. I have read a lot and been progressing slowly/carefully as I learn the many steps of reloading rifle cartridges.
I am reloading my own once fired Federal 55 gr FMJ 5.56 brass.
After depriming...

I have and like the ergo handle (Inline-Fabrication). That said I'd try a little lock tite on the knob to hold it until you decide to get an ergo handle.

I suggest you consider the Lee Classic 4 hole turret press. It is close in price, stores in about the same space as a single can function as a single stage as well as a turret. You can leave your powder measure and other dies mounted and adjusted. Just rotate to next station when...
Welcome!

I load some BP 45 for a modern Ruger Vaquero so can't help much with specifics for your caliber and vintage pistol.
I did find the following that may help.
The link below is an overview of loading BP cartridges by some Cowboy action shooters. Pretty interesting read and some...
Plinkers
I use HP38 for paper punching with all combinations of bullet sizes and types. I have always found a fairly soft load that is accurate and the whole family enjoys shooting.
I load Berrys, Rainier and Extreme in all sizes with great results.

WLP should work for both
The Winchester Large Pistol primers that I have say clearly on the carton they are for use in standard or magnum loads. Check your packaging for confirmation and be safe.
Projectile component storage
I use one from Harbor Frieght. Reasonably cheap and quite affective. Easy to see inventory, removable and the pull out drawers will hang from my strong mount when loading too.
Here are a couple examples.
Wall mount...
I don't load 30-06 but it seems with COAL spec between 2.940" Minimum, to 3.340" Maximum the Classic turret will work.
The following is a excerpt from the Lee Precision website.
"Our Classic Turret Press also has the auto index feature, and is capable of loading cartridges with an overall...
Lee makes great starter presses
You really can't go wrong with Lee single stage or the Classic 4 hole turret press. I have both and they work very well. I started with the Single stage in order to learn the process with minmal distractions. Within a couple months I realized that a turret was...
