    DG rifle/action hybrids?

Hey sig45, I hear you, people get jealous of what you can afford and they cannot! I LOVE Weatherbys, think they have the greatest actions ever made! Like 'em in non-Weatherby calibers, though.

    .458 Lott BIG bear medicine...

I was reading an article that said the .458 Lott will stop any DG, large bears in an all out charge, DEAD in their tracks, when hit African DG act as if they were hit by a death ray. And if a bear charges, I will never try to figure if it is serious, not enough time or surety no matter what any...

German #4 Crosshair vs. Triangle Reticle

Thanks for all the input and from those who own one(or both)...think I will go with the triangle, since it is bigger than the mis-represented green dot on crosshairs that may be too thick...for DG I want an uncluttered as possible view and fast acquisition!

    Is it just me?

The TR24-3G: AccuPoint 1-4x24 30mm Riflescope, German #4 Crosshair with Green Dot and the TR24: AccuPoint 1-4x24 30mm Riflescope with BAC, Amber Triangle Reticle, are good moderate cost scopes.

German #4 Crosshair vs. Triangle Reticle

hmmm, crosshairs certainly more traditional and all I have ever had, and at low power, probably does not matter much with either, but I agree with the more points of reference.

German #4 Crosshair vs. Triangle Reticle

did you mean "but for a dangerous game rifle I would go with the Accupoint Triangle Reticle instead of the #4 (which is the crosshairs )?

German #4 Crosshair vs. Triangle Reticle

I am looking at the TR24-3G: AccuPoint 1-4x24 30mm Riflescope, German #4 Crosshair with Green Dot vs. the TR24: AccuPoint 1-4x24 30mm Riflescope with BAC, Amber Triangle Reticle, for my Dangerous Game rifle. They are the same 1-4x24 scopes with non-battery powered illumination, just the...

Cheaper Than Dirt? Shipping.... say what!

Ok...this thread pretty well determined CTD sucks. I was about to place an ammo order from them, when I noticed the unusually high shipping charge...reproduced the similar order with Midway USA & the Outdoor Gear Barn and the shipping was half compared to CTD, at both these other sites. Does...

    charg'n Grizzly wait...wait?

Good common sense advice...I know to do this, and will...but was thinking about the hesitation could prove fatal and would rather err on the side of caution and shoot early enough to give myself a fighting chance. But as you say, of course, avoidance is the best defense.

    charg'n Grizzly wait...wait?

No. let me clarify what I meant...at some reasonable point, not long range...but long enough so one could have several shots if the 1st critical shot is not perfect...it could require quite a few more to put down a committed bear...I am told by those who have.

    charg'n Grizzly wait...wait?

I am somewhat perplexed, amused & alarmed (mix of those 3) ...at the "accounts" of quite a few who HAVE been "charged" by a Grizz or Brown and have had the luxury of a bit of "time & distance"? What I mean is....they did NOT shoot, but waited to determine if it was the allegedly common "bluff"...

    CZ or Sako ???

A curious thing also...Also ...MANY others on other boards, are telling me that the SAKO is NOT a "TRUE CFR" ...not like a Winchester 70 or the CZ Safari...I don't understand that...either it is "Push Feed like a Remington or Weatherby or it is "controlled feed" (CFR) like the Win or CZ / Mauser...

    CZ or Sako ???

Gee...I added this line to my post, so everyone would NOT tell me what other rifles to consider (that I have & ruled out do to LENGTH)... ..."It is the 20"(CZ) to 21"(Sako) barrel length and hence shorter overall, that I am interested in among other features... I have answered 7 posts on 2...

    CZ or Sako ???

Help me decide...I have narrowed down my BG / DG hunting rifle purchase down to 2 or maybe a third? Sako Kodiak or Brown Bear models in .375 H7H vs. the CZ Magnum Express .375 H&H: CZ: The Safari Classics line from CZ-USA features the CZ single set trigger system set up to your...

    Blaser R8?

Ok...I was specifically interested in the posts I saw on another rifle forum that said "that Blaser rifles typically have a 2-4% cartridge failure-to-fire rate and that the "owners' of these rifles seem to accept that...especially unacceptable in a dangerous game rifle"???

    Blaser R8?

Hi; does anyone have a Blaser R8...any model? I was interested in the "Professional" in .375 H7H...or the Semi Weight, but I read the R93 thread here...and there were quite a few negative comments about the reliability, quality and design of the "straight back bolt" that has me wondering. It...
