Had The Same Problem
I had the same problem loading my 9mm, until I figured out that I was crimping the case a little too much. Seems the case was cutting into the cast round and setting up the steps for making it tumble.:)
Oops my bag guys, sorry I posted it in the wrong forum,I'm just so used to comming to this site that I did it without thinking. Anyway, I removed all I could, THANKS.
Never thought of that, thanks guys! That is why I am always recommending this site whenever I am in the chat rooms and telling all my friends about it cause you guys are the greatest:) !!
I guess that I will just use it once then trash it or sell it to a third world country since I use 40-50...
Lupinus- When you get ready to start tumbling your brass, you will probably have alot of questions like I did concerning what media to use. I came here and someone suggested using Rice and guess what? IT WORKED GREAT!!
I made my own tumbler using a small electric motor with a counter weight...
Thanks to all of you that came to my aid and answered Lupinus for me. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked.
The range officer with over 30 years of experience pointed it out to me and all I could say was Huh?
I went out and shot a bunch of 9mm rounds that I had reloaded and they key-holed so bad the the range officer couldn't believe it. He said he never seen so many of them in 30+ years at the range and suggested that my barrel was worn out, except my gun is a new High-point 9mm. After giving the...
I don't wash my brass at all, I just throw it in the tumbler and let it go, but the one thing I do different is that I use long grain Rice as the media and I think it works just as well if not better than corn cob or walnut shell and I can get a 25# bag for less then $5.00 :p
OK Laugh at me
Out of my brood of guns, I can honestly say that my High-Point 9mm is the best hand gun I have ever owned! I have put over 2000 rounds through it with just a few problems that probably came from me reloading my own ammo, and talk about it being dead on the guys at the range with...
Shot a bunch today
I loaded up 350 rounds on Saturday and shot them off today with no problems!
I used 4.3 grains of Winchester 231 powder and a 100 grain cast bullet and only had 2 mis-feeds with my C9 Hi-Point. :o
Media Separator
Since I am just doing a hundred cases or so at a time since I haven't found out how many my little homemade vibrator tumbler will do, I use a kitty litter scoop to seperate the rice that I use as media from the brass. The rice works great, is fast and inexpensive. I guess if you...
I finally got my homemade tumbler made! I ended up using the picture and instructions posted by that fine gentleman whose name I forgot. I used the bucket and the motor with the counterweight attched to the shaft to make it viberate. I made a light modification to it by extending the shaft...
Finally got my press and now I have a question. The load data that came with the dies doesn't state how far to seat the bullets. Do I just seat it till the round is at max length or what?
Also it doesn't give the specs if your using a 100GR. cast bullet and W-231 powder.
Any help?
Ever seen a centifuge fly apart?
Scratch the centifuge ideal. Now I know why it had the sticker stating that the load needed to be balanced. :banghead:
Glad I sat it behind a piece of 1/2 plywood before I tried it.
EOD - If you see me running, Run like Hell!! :fire:
I just bought an old medical centifuge and wondering if it could be used to make a case tumbler.
Any Ideals?
