What's up with this LC brass?

Chatter marks from a bad chamber reamer. I've seen this before in other calibers. It should fire form right back to original appearance with out a problem.

    Considering a 1911 - what do I look for?

If you're looking for a carry gun, 3 in. bbl, Kimber without question.

    Kimber Question.

My Kimber is an Ultra CDP II. It has never jammed, failed to fire, fail to extract, fail to feed etc. Over 2,000 rds of all kinds of ammo including some reloads. As with some others here, my only roadblock to buying another is my lovely wife. I train frequently at the Oregon Firearms...

    Failure to fire .45 ACP

He does shoot cast lead and may have over crimped. Yes, he tried rechambering and got the same result. The possibility of over crimping equates to a "short" case. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on some of the rounds. I'm sort of in the dark as I haven't actually seen anything, just...

    Failure to fire .45 ACP

I don't know what primers were being used. That's a good question. As for trimming, I'm not sure that he trimmed them or not, but most of his brass is "range pickup" so he could have gotten some wierd stuff. I'm trying to get him to compare them with factory brass. Thanks

    Failure to fire .45 ACP

A friend has a Rock Island Armory 1911 that failed to fire with some new reloads. Factory ammo functions fine. Some of the reloads functioned OK. The visible symptom was no primer indentation from the firing pin. I suspect cases trimmed too short, but I was not able to examine/compare. Any...

    Concealed means concealed

Simple answer, I don't go to such stores/businesses and like some others here I seek out my CCW friends and inform them of the store/business policy. Eventually, those business people will get the idea. Or not.

putting flyers over "gun free zone" signs at school?

So called "gun free zones" are nothing more than an invitation to criminals, would be mass shooters, etc.. A gun free zone is nothing more than an advertisement that the individuals inside the boundaries of the zone are helpless. My own personal position on this issue is that those who...

    Carrying Into Other People's Homes

I don't go to homes where I don't know the status concerning the concealed carrying of firearms. All my FRIENDS know I carry and there has never been an issue. I carry in their homes, they carry in mine. If there are children in the home they don't know I'm carrying and I don't leave a carry...

    Help picking a scope

Don't overlook Tasco. They make good reliable optics. I've got a Tasco 3-9x40 on my Ruger 10-22 and it's great. Cost $34.95 at a local gun shop.

    .22 scope advice

I put a Tasco 3-9x40 on my 10/22 The scope cost $34.95. I've used Tasco scopes and binoculars for 45 years and have never had a problem. I've also used many other kinds of high end optics, Leupold, Nikon, etc., and the only difference I noticed was the price.

    CCW reloads?

I've done some research on this topic as I have been told by a former county prosecutor here in Oregon that reloaded SD ammo, even if "legal to use", can create a lot of problems. Legal + Problems = Lots of Money. The following is taken from the DVD's provided with membership in the Armed...

    Springfield's GI 1911

I had one I picked up for $275 new in box. Functioned hot, straight and normal. Put about 500 rds. (American Eagle 230gr. ball) through it before a friend talked me out of it for $400. He likes it. No problems. (Wish I had it back)

I'd heard or read about 15 different scenarios/methods. I think leaving it alone sounds the best. I'm not having any malfunction problems. Thanks for clearing that up.
