Get a TRG-22 with good glass for a great gun you can afford to shoot.
Get a very good 1911. Minimum Springfield TRP or a Les Baer or a Wilson. Fullsize (5")
A good O/U shotgun. Beretta 68X or Browning Citori
A top drawer. 223 like a Cooper model 21
That should empty your wallet and...
For those of us who shoot 1911's a lot, having a grip reduction done where the grip angle is set the same as a 1911 makes the Glock into a shootable gun.
Some grip reductions are pretty ugly. But they work for those who need 'em.
Just for additional info, I have two Wild West Guns 45-70/457 WWG's - one with the scout setup and one with the peep only. They are pretty much my favorite rifles.
So I picked up this unfired 1895 at auction on a whim. I figured that it would make a cheap and fun practice rifle, and one my...
I recently attended an auction where I picked up a mint Marlin 1894S in 44 mag. It has the microgroove barrel.
I am thinking about putting a scout scope on it, but before I spend the $$ I would like to know just what level of accuracy I can expect with it.
If you have experience with this...
I had a Win 1300 Defender. If you practice much with it you'll find out quick that 00 buck SD loads will end your session fast. It kicked hard  and just wasn't any fun to practice with, and I'm not particularly recoil sensitive.
So I went out and got myself a Mossberg 590 A1 with the...
Shot selection in either 12 or 20 is a non-issue for me. I can get Win AA's (clay games), promo loads, cheap practice loads, and good hunting loads for both. Pretty much in any shot size I want. And they cost less than I could reload them for.
The one shotgun in my safe that has killed...
Hi Guys,
Thought you could save me some development time and direct me to a good starting load. I "need" to eradicate ground squirrels out to 250 yds or so.
I have a Cooper mod 21 (single shot) in .223 and a box of Nosler 55 gr Ballistic tip spitzers. Twist is 1 in 14. Have some Fed...
CDNN has them in 7-08 and .223 and I have a line on a used one in 308. I'd love to hear about your experiences in 7-08 and 308 and in particular what accuracy capability the gun has.
Any other comments regarding the gun's useability/trigger etc would be appreciated. Any little wierdness or...
Take out the shock buff if you're running one and load the 1st round by slingshotting the mag, not depressing the slide stop.
When you launch the slide from slide stop rather than slingshotting, the slide has less travel before it hits the round and strips it off. When cycling while firing...
I have two Pros. The older one with a 3 digit serial number came with Wilson 47D mags (8 rounders). The current production gun (just a few months old) came with Metalforms. SA and the FBI moved to the Metalforms over the years.
Either mag will work well with the guns in my experience. The...
Reports say he was about 30 yds away. Pellets will go clean through a bird at that distance. Probably was using #7-1/2 or #8 shot., which is standard for quail. My guess is that they'd go 1-2 inches into unprotected human skin at that distance, but I don't know that for sure. What I do know...
I don't know how many of you hunt, but here's how it works. You walk a line as noted before. If someone is out of the line you wait. I admit I've gone on to the next point or gone after another bird, but when my partner is retrieving a downed bird but I sure as hell know where he is. :eek...
Usually I'll do a 10-15% premium for my local guy. On really big purchases I'll call it a bit closer. Say a 1K gun I'd pay 100 more. On a 2K gun I'd still only go about 100 more.
But for most stuff the extra 30 of 40 bucks is worth it to me to support the biz.
Lots of times my local guy...
You will need .027 more front sight to lower POI 4 inches assuming you have a 5" gun. If it is a shorter distance from the rear sight to the front sight, the numbers will change, but for a 5" model I use .0068 per inch at 25 yds.
You probably won't be able to get a sight .027 taller, likely...
I recently was offered a "factory" 9x23 barrel for CZ75. Did CZ make such an animal, and if so, does it indeed run with factory mags, ejector, etc?
I'd never heard of such a thing, but I've been ignorant before.......
I think it will go places because the cartridge is the same length as 40 and 9mm. 45ACP and 10mm and 38 super are all 1.260", suited to 1911's and such. 45GAP is in the same family as 9 and 40 (1.150ish) and as such it can be adapted to existing designs. This is what made the 40 successful -...
