I went thru the exact same thing as you...ordered my press as kit in .45 and what I thought was everything to switch to 9mm...got everything switched over and oops..no small slide or case feeder...I was still only doing one brass at a time anyway with .45 so I just continued that with 9mm still...
What press are you using? I ditched the disks and replaced them with the charge bar....much more consistent and fine tuning for me http://www.midwayusa.com/product/150005/lee-auto-disk-adjustable-powder-charge-bar . I agree with Lost Sheep, I would watch all the videos and read all you can...
I know one thing that helped me with the 1000.......(especially for 9mm) ..and I don't care if they say no lube required.....I sprayed a touch of One Shot on my brass......and it is a COMPLETELY different press for me. I thought at times the ram might pull out of the shell plate but not...
I have the pro 1000, also my first press. It took me a bit to learn the ins and outs, but once you learn all the quirks it seems pretty decent to me. (Although I really have nothing to compare it to). I purchased the kit in .45ACP and ordered the extra stuff to switch to 9MM. I loaded a bunch of...
Good call on the vent hood, I put a bathroom exhaust fan in mine and it is only 70cfm I think....it works somewhat (mainly for gun cleaning on the bench), but not strong enough to vent the entire room
If/when you can find the stuff at decent prices go for it.... I just started a while back myself but luckily got stocked up a bit before things got really crazy......I figure I'm in it for the long haul/lifetime hobby and didn't really jump into it because of state of things right now. I could...
I have this one
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/175512/frankford-arsenal-ds-750-electronic-powder-scale-750-grain-capacity
and for the money I have been pretty amazed at how well it does, I verify it pretty often though like others have said, but I like it
yeah I hate that.........still haven't made it thru all my brass to toss them all out..I would say they did it for 'cost reduction' but seems like it would cost them more to change the equipment all around for a smaller hole?
Yeah I would use the 52" x 32" easier than trying to build an L shape.....for my bench top I found a solid core door at the local Habitat store for $10 and built around it (mine is only 24" deep)......might be something to look at and you could cut it back to 52" if you found a 32" wide
Very nice! I love this thread!........although I think there may be something completely wrong with me spending so much time looking at other peoples reloading setups?....you'd think they were girly pics or something..lol
I just wanted to say thanks to all the contributors here, this forum has been a wealth of knowledge and I finally shot my first batch of home grown .45's yesterday and didn't have a single issue. I have been reading just about everything I can get my hands on and all the posts and finally got...
Yeah...no telling how old that heater is (the house is almost 100)...I need to upgrade... although it is rarely lit either... it just doesn't get that cold here in Oklahoma ...it just came with the house :)
