Bullet diameter is .451 Nosler. Assorted 45 cases courtesy of my son. Also tried adjusting the seating die two different ways (one according to Lee Precision and one according to everyone else)
Using Lee Pro 1000 and Lee Deluxe pistol dies.
I loaded a ton of 40 SW but have been on 223 for a long time. Now I'm starting to work up a good load for my Dad's 1911 which my brother is sending me. My problem is I haven't set up pistol dies in a long time and in trying to get the right seating depth I keep crunching cases in the bullet...
I drive about 40 minutes to my range, which is a public (outdoor) range. I could probably find a closer one but it would be in the evil state of Maryland so no thanks.
If a dealer ships a gun to another dealer in another state, I know they are allowed to use USPS, which in my case they did. What I am wondering is if they are required to use any special service of the postal service, such as Priority Mail or whatever. I mean, you can't just send it through...
1.76 is the max case length for .223. IE when it gets that long it needs to be trimmed. The "trim to" length I believe is 1.75. Lengths slightly below that should be fine, they will stretch out during the firing process. Don't measure and trim your brass until they'be been through the sizing die...
My favorites are what I reload, which from a projectile point of view is Hornady for rifle and Nosler for pistol.
I occassionally buy commercial ammo, and when I do its Hornady or PMC X-TAC for rifle and WWB for pistol. I hate Independence brand ammo for pistol. It's total crap imo.

Well my troubles are over and I wanted to backfill a little info. I'm currently renting and have no workshop, such as would have a vice. The only gripping tool I had at the house was one pair of vice grips. So I had to take it to the shop where I work and put it in the vice, after which it came...
Yeah I need another pair of pliers to hold the other piece with. That sucker is on there good. I'll take it to work tomorrow and do it in the shop

The other day I broke the decapping pin on my RCBS .223 die, so I called them and they said they would send me a few. In the pic is what they sent me in the plastic bag. My question is does what I have come to refer to as the "decapping pin" come apart to allow replacement of the actual part...
I am going to load them in the 40 with 5.3 of Bullseye behind a 150 grain Nosler JHP and see what happens (that was my starting load for my current round of projectiles)

Well when I am using a Lee Progressive press. When I first started reloading I found out that I hated the primer feed system on that thing. So I got myself a Lee hand primer tool, which I love btw. Then I switched to .223 and did not mark the auto primer tray with what was in it. It was...
I'm having a hard time getting ahold of a small primer pocket reamer. I can't load any more .223 without one. Was wondering if you guys have any ideas that would do in a pinch. Something involving a cordless drill maybe? Thanks in advance

During the process of switching calibers I ended up with about 50 small rifle primers and 50 small pistol primers. I lost track of which is which. So my question is how to safely dispose if them? Or could I use them all in my 40 loads?
