9mm reliability/safety/performance advantage of having cannelured cartridge?

Spoke with a guy trying out some new solid copper hollow points he bought from Corbon and Defiant Munitions. 9mm rounds that had cannelures. I'm not accustomed to seeing cannelures on 9mm factory ammo for pistols. The guy paid a hefty penny for the ammo and I was wondering if there is any...

M&P firing pin broke; should I switch to a hammer fired pistol?

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the feedback. Well (and this pretty much answers my question), it sounds like hammer fired guns are not inherently more reliable if they were breaking firing pins as well. This was the essence of my question, whether there was any sort of advantage against this...

M&P firing pin broke; should I switch to a hammer fired pistol?

@jerkface11 I get why you're asking this, but it's a red herring for what I'm asking about. To answer your question, maybe had a 1000 rounds through it. But even if it had 50,000, I want something that's going to get me through the fight. So anyone got anything contributory to add relating to...

M&P firing pin broke; should I switch to a hammer fired pistol?

In the middle of a competition, my M&P died. Broken firing pin. This is unnerving because if it was the street, I'd most likely be dead. Is there any reliability advantage to a hammer fired gun with respect to the gun being able to continue to launch rounds even if something breaks...

Any recommendations for over-the-clothing gun/utility belt?

I'm looking for something I can put on over my shirt or even a jacket and carry my gear off the belt. I am fond of the Wilderness Titantium belt but it only comes in 1.5" width and I was thinking a wider belt would be better for this purpose. I am seeking feedback on models and what widths you...

    Use cases for short-barreled .308?

A quick online search found me this source source that reaches same conclusion as other studies I've read in written form. I've seen other studies posted online over the years that reached the same conclusion. I don't want this thread to be about that though. So please don't derail. Thanks.

Lithium 123 or N style batteries for electronic ears?

Thanks. Should I be concerned with the fatness of the 123? considering how the batteries are in the muff, is the slimness of the N an advantage in fit or preventing sound transmission from the 123 pressing out more and touching your ear?

Lithium 123 or N style batteries for electronic ears?

Anybody have experience using these battery types with electronic hearing protection? I'm looking for advice on which style to choose. N requires four batteries. Lithium requires two batteries but they are fatter.

    Use cases for short-barreled .308?

Guys, what use-cases are short-barreled .308s for? Generally, 20" barrel for .308 with standard load will give full powder burn and full velocity. Many studies confirm this. If you drop barrel length for maneuverability to 16" or so and add a suppressor then you still come out about 20"...

Are "cables" better for your gun than cleaning rods?

This was the reason for my post. Are the cables just another way of getting the job done, or are they somehow inherently "safer" for the barrel or "better" than using a rod. Someone told me it's better for my barrel to drop something like the Otis cable through my barrel and pull the bore brush...

Are "cables" better for your gun than cleaning rods?

Thanks guys. Any particular setup you guys care to recommend for cleaning a 9mm Glock? What kind of bore brush, what kind of cable/rob, etc. Thanks again.

Are "cables" better for your gun than cleaning rods?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about (i.e., "Memory-Flex cables"): http://www.otistec.com/pc_product_detail.asp?key=E22D613C4CE7411F89B6D1ED9C6A1FB5 A cable is dropped through the barrel so that the pull only ever goes in one direction. With a cleaning rod you have to pull the rod back...
