    PJK9P problem

I have an FEG PJK9P Hi-Power clone. A while ago I field stripped it for cleaning, and now I can't get it back together. The feed ramp keeps hitting the recoil pin (if that's the right term- the crossways pin that the slot under the barrel normally engages) so that the slide won't go all the way...

    Interesting concept: Supercavitating bullets?

Came across this and thought it sounded like it could be the next big thing: http://www.grosswildjagd.de/penetrat.htm Basically the design idea behind the Russian 200 MPH torpedo applied to bullets. The picture of the elephant with the entrance wound in the butt and the exit wound in...

WA- save the self defense reimbursement!

Washington State has a fairly unique law that requires the State to pay a criminal defendant's attorney's fees and lost wages if a jury finds him/her not guilty because he/she acted in self defense. I just got word that there's a hearing in the Legislature Wednesday on a proposal to eliminate...

    Buck factory sharpening?

I've recently picked up a couple Buck folders. When I run a thumb over the edge they feel dull, but they shave hair off my arm like nobody's business. I have a lot of knives and generally know a sharp blade when I feel it, but these are confusing me. Is there something odd about the way Buck...

    For Washington State activists/lawyers

Just got this from someone else: "I received an order from the Court of Appeals today ordering supplemental briefing. It also invites amicus briefs. The order reads, in part, "In addition, within the same time limit [20 days], either party may notify amicus who may wish to file a brief on...

Man shot to death as he kills ex-wife

So did the shooter here do the right thing? I'm not asking if it was a righteous shoot- it obviously was- but what would you do? Under Washington law, the shooter's in the clear- hasn't been formally announced yet but when the cops tell you to go home after killing a man the outcome's pretty...

The Gun Control Debate is over. We won.

Has anyone noticed that, in the wake of the VT shootings, only the Usual Suspects are calling for more gun control? The actual decision makers are making it pretty clear that more gun control, new AWBs, etc. are not going to move an inch in Congress or most state legislatures. At worst, this...

    Interesting failure to stop

This week I had to sit in on a trial involving a drug ripoff. The "victim" was in the driver's seat of an SUV and was shot through the thigh with a .45 Gold Dot from a 5" 1911 type pistol by a guy leaning over from the back seat. Don't know the bullet weight. The bullet went deep enough to...

    Improvised weapon in action:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003550609_lighterfluid01m.html Turns out that the attacker was another schizophrenic wandering the downtown Seattle streets. Gotta like this 82 year old, though, and his picture!

    Naked man arrested for CCW

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15554530/ WARNING: if you are offended by bad taste, you probably won't like the story. OTOH, I thought it was amusing.

Another "old guy trumps mugger" story

Just for fun: 70-year-old ex-SAS soldier dares to tackle four muggers and wins http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=412399&in_page_id=1811

    Good read about young soldiers

Not sure if this belongs here or in L&P, but it's a great story: (from http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/214064_likeasoldier06.html) Like thousands before him, a soldier comes of age By JACK LEWIS GUEST COLUMNIST NORTHERN IRAQ -- He's young enough to be my son. Annoying enough...

Man to get $40,000 to cover costs from court

http://theolympian.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060922/NEWS01/609220343/1006 Some things about Washington State that you just have to like. The only problem I have with this law is that you get paid for your defense if you act in self-defense, but if you just plain didn't do it you're on...

    Newest Stryker

Sounds like the Army put a modified M1 turret on a Stryker: http://www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/story/6102144p-5347604c.html "The MGS will carry four types of ammunition: a depleted-uranium armor-piercing round, a high-explosive anti-tank round, a high-explosive plastic round for...

    Mossberg 500 troubles

I was unloading my Mossberg 500 20 gauge and the shells wouldn't go forward on the forward stroke of the pump. Just stopped there. Federal #3 Buck FWIW. Haven't seen this before. Worked fine when the gun's empty, and last I tried it fired other shells fine and fed these. I'm thinking it's...

Got searched for the first time yesterday

So I'm toodling up the road the other day and my truck runs out of gas (fuel gauge is off and the wife took the Chevron card without telling me). Now, I usually have enough gear in the truck to survive a couple days of a Katrina-like incident, but somehow I managed to both run out of gas and...

    Let's be careful out there!

I just got back from a backpacking trip. One of the guys who went was hit in the back by a .30 cal bullet earlier this summer. He was out in the woods on another camping trip when this bullet seemingly came out of nowhere and hit him right between the shoulder blade and the spine:eek: . Thank...

    Lubricants again (PTFE)...

In case this hasn't been beaten to death already: I recently got a can of Liquid Wrench PTFE Dry-Lube, and I'm getting hooked on the stuff. Spray it on slide rails (GENTLY) and they smooth right up with no sticky mess. Anyone else tried this stuff? The big claim is that it doesn't collect dust.

    Question for muzzle flash experts

This is a question asked by a fellow attorney: "This concerns the visual "proof" of a gun being fired. In my hypothetical case, the police have a surveillance video of a car being driven on a street. They allege the person driving the car reached from the driver's front seat, across the...
