    FN 7x57 Scout rifle

Here's an ad for a used FN rifle. Could someone tell me what they think of this as a deer rifle and whether the price is anywhere in the ballpark? I know nothing about FNs as civilian guns. Thanks. Manufacturer: Fn Serial Number: 1409 Model: 98 SCOUT Action: Rifle...

For me the Holy Grail is a three inch model 19.

1905 savage arms 22 rifel pump six round clip

My guess is you're thinking about the Savage model 1903. Most of them had a 1906 patent date on the barrel, not 1905. The detachable box magazine held seven shots, not six. Otherwise, all else is as you describe. It is a takedown rifle with the takedown bolt on the right side. Some but not...

    I just got Lyman's 49th reloading manual . . .

The 48th is my standard reloading manual and my favorite. I would be curious to know what the 49th has that the 48th doesn't have. IOW, do I need the 49th? Bill

    A Hunter's Observations on the 6.5x55 Swede

< I just don't understand this recent obsession with shot actions, and the inference that long actions are practically unusuable.> I completely agree. Long actions don't bother me a bit and they give more reloading options. Bill

    Dan Wesson called me today

I've often wondered about a 44 spl cylinder that I could pop into and out of my model 44 so that I don't mung up the magnum chambers when I shoot 44 spl. Is this feasible or not? Would the barrel/shroud threads have to be extended to reach a shorter cylinder?

Latest edition of Cartridges of the World

What's the latest edition of this book? Is it the 11th? That's the latest one mentioned on Amazon. Just thought I'd check before ordering. Thanks. Bill

    dan wesson value?

V means the barrel has a vented rib on the shroud. H means "heavy", i.e., it has a full underlug. The 7 prefix means it is stainless steel. Bill

    Colt Detective Special

-I keep hearing about the smooth triggers - Well, it's true. Smoothest trigger of all six of my revolvers. Or any others I've shot. Bill

    Three rounder?

Re the Lefaucheux: 1. Good Lord! 2. When you pulled the trigger, did both barrels fire or just one? 3. I wonder how heavy the DA trigger pull was. And to think I thought the 1895 Nagant was weird. Bill

    Three rounder?

Thanks for the tip on the Marston. I used it to refine my google search and found this excellent site http://home.hetnet.nl/~f2h80244815/ which has the Marston and a three barrel Manhattan of a different configuration. See thumbnail. OK, so there are at least two "three-shooters"...

    Three rounder?

Interesting link on the Dardick, new to me. But I was really thinking of cartridges that were round in cross section ;-)

    Three rounder?

Is there such a thing? There have been plenty of one and two shot derringers, Sharps made several four shot pepper pots, there are buckets of 5 and six round revolvers, seven and eight rounders are no longer a rarity and nine and ten round rimfire revolvers have been around for ages. Didn't...

    Old Beretta Auto...

A few years ago at a gun show I picked up a model 1935, 32 caliber, made in 1944 in the "gun valley" in northern Italy. It has the stamp of the Quattro Uffizio, or Fourth Office which was the organization that purchased Beretta pistols for use by the German Army. So it is a WWII Italian gun...

Proposed re-naming for the 10 mm Auto...a marketing effort to revive the cartridge...

.40 S&W Long ? Identifies with a popular cartridge and avoids the "magnum" stigma. Hmmm. Magnum Stigma. Let's call it that. :neener: Bill

    Any Dan Wesson owners here?

15v6 and 44v6 here. I'd say go ahead and tap your shroud. I have seen a number of tapped shrouds without the scope mounted and it looks fine to me. Of course, you can always get an extra shroud from DW. Personally, I admire people who can shoot revolvers beyond 25 yards. I don't think...
