The only bolt action I've seen is the Ruger. If you know of a reputable smith, a custom build might be your best option. I ended up with a lever action but I wasn't going for precision shooting.
I'm more confident in my carry guns than I am of myself. A maintained mechanical device should perform as designed. The human factor is the big unknown. I pray I never have to test that.
My first and I still have it. Originally my grandfather's Remington model 33. It was passed down to my dad and then to me. It'll be my boys soon then hopefully my grandson one day.
My take....
There's no perfect gun or ammo for every possibility. All we can do is carry what would be the most effective in the most likely situation. There are many that say never handload for personal defense because of legal reasons. I can unfortunately understand that thinking but...
Yes. Regardless what the news shows, a great full nation thanks you. A bumper sticker I seen many, many years ago that simply said " If you can read this thank a teacher... because you're reading this in English, thank a veteran" sums it up.
Thank you again.
I'll buy only if I need to. So far I've been stocked enough to keep shooting without cutting back. If this continues for another couple years I'll be purchasing components regardless of the price.
After I work up a load I'll shoot several hundred rounds through a pistol without really letting it cool between groups. I've never noticed any real degrade in accuracy.
Agreed, but they would also be so overwhelmed they wouldn't/couldn't issue FFLs either. Millions would be waiting forever for a license to exercise a right.
I honestly didn't check out the prices. It was a quick stop on the way home to grab some bullets for the 45acp. I did pay 44 for a pound of H4350. More than I like paying but I was getting low and didn't want to run out. Loading for the 270 eats a pound of powder quickly.
