Are the 500s really good enough for music? They don't seem expensive enough to excel at both noise reduction AND music fidelity. I'd like to consider them doing double-duty as my mower muffs. I've been wearing earbuds under regular muffs for years but I'm always snagging the damn cord.

Good luck finding a low-priced optic not made in China AND with electronics not made in China. You pretty much have to compromise on one or both for under $500.
