I have owned both...have the Buckmark now as I sold the 22/45 because I wanted to be able to modify the grips (which I believe you can do now).
Both great shooters and lots of fun.....now that you can modify grips and buy the 22/45 with a threaded barrel, I'd say it's a toss-up.
Good Luck
I sold my 637 after 3 years and bought an LCP as the 637 ended up not fitting my work attire and I found myself not carrying more than I was, especially once spring hit the Carolinas. I can now carry all the time.
That's my story
Don't know if it has been mentioned but check out the review of Kel Tec PMR 30 22 on GUNBLAST.com
Watch the video, the full auto is "pretty cool"
I may get one of those :)
You opened up by saying "Going to start kayaking and fishing".
If you have little or no experience kayak fishing, I can offer you some advice for one who has gone in the drink a few times and not on my own terms.
SECURE EVERYTHING DOWN. :banghead:
Choice of firearm is always the one...
Save yourself some (a lot) of money and just buy a NAA Mini if you are looking for .22lr/mag for SD.
Then wait on a S&W 34-1 2" bbl, adjustable sights, for plinking and woods walking.
That's what I did.
Now I may  have a SW 637 in the other pocket
Welcome to the CCW BUY -Try - Sell, BUY - Try - Trade - Try - Sell Club.
My membership lasted 4 rounds and I ended up coming back to the 637 I first Tried and Sold.
It's just a process :banghead:
Just remember that when camping in a State Park here in old NC, firearms are prohibited.
Many areas of National Forest Land are also NC Game Lands.
I personally do not have a clear understanding on Game Lands carry. I do know that if on NC Game Lands and having on your possession a .22 with a...
I carry a NAA mini .22lr with Remington 40 gr. SV. (Also have S&W 637 but don't carry as much given my personal situation)
What I like about the NAA is when I walk out to the parking lot at night or in a mall lot I can have the mini in my hand at the ready and nobody can see it as it is...
+1 to Majic
Heck I have a S&W 637, great shooter, conceals well; yet I carry my NAA Mini everyday cause it fits everything I wear.
As Majic stated, YMMV
I dressed mine with Pachmayr Compacs and carry it in a Simply Rugged Pancake when I go off the beaten path.
On the beaten path you'll find me with a S&W 34-1. :D
Here in NC
Fly fishing or bumming thru the woods I carry my S&W 620 in either a Simply Rugged Pancake or a Widerness Safepacker.
First 3: 38+P 158gr LSWC HP
Next 4: BB 180gr. HC
I too was thinking of the Mini-Master or BlackWidow but opted instead for a used S&W 34 with the 2" bbl. Perfect for pocket carry & easier to reload.
YMMV.
Bearcat on Order
Took my 9 yr old son out to shoot his Daisy pellet rifle. Broke out my Single Six with CB Longs. Caught him by suprise when I shot it. Let him try it and 150 rds of the CB's later the pellet rifle is history. I had him put on the ear muffs and let him shoot a couple of...
