BTW I also don't thing that the Ruger is a bad rifle...I had a Ruger M77 Compact in 243 that was as good a rifle as I think I've had...I traded it for a new full size Hawkeye in 257 Roberts that may be a better rifle yet...So I don't think you'd go wrong with either....
I voted CZ...I have one...it shoots pretty well...trigger is super...With just a little work you can mount lower rings on the rifle...I did the bolt mod myslef and I'm no gunsmith...I can't remember if I mounted low or medium rings...at any rate its a fine rifle...I use it mostly to get ready...
See through rings would be a bad idea in my opinion...The drop on that comb in unique to begin with, and the bolt handle design leads many folks to recommend a high ring for optics on this gun. That leads to an awfully uncomforatble cheek weld for most...Adding see through rings would probably...
Ruger just annouced that it's building the Hawkeye in a Compact rifle chambered in 7.62x39....16.5" bbl and around 6 pounds w/o optics....could be a workhorse....also chambered in 6.8SPC
Mine is the old Stevens 22-410....It has the Zytel stock on it and no serial number....It's by far my favorite squirrel gun....The 22 bbl is scary accurate with open sights and the .410 bbl will take 3" loads....+1 for this combo being the perfect squirrel gun...
I've shot the Wolf Match Target out of my 10/22 with no issues....Now I may clean my gun more than most, but it has never given me any issues, regardless of ammo....
Thanks for the help folks...I'll try some of that Barnaul/Monarch stuff and the heavier Wolf...any ideas where I can get it cheapest...and Seven I'd love to know where in the world you can buy that Lapua for 8.50/30 rounds....I'd pay to have that shipped....
I was shooting my CZ527 carbine in 7.62x39 this pm and I really noticed how much it likes one ammo over another....It will shoot Federal Powershok into an inch at 100 yards, while the Wolf stuff, either the Military Classic or the black box, looks like a shotgun pattern at 100 yards...I bought...
Why do shell prices keep going up when lead prices keep going down....my walmart here in mississippi just went up $3 on the cheap 100 round value pack of federal target loads.....and I can't figure out why...really pisses me off...
Thanks for clearing that up Ron...I hate being misinformed and would much rather have the correct information than go on spewing false information...I had just always heard, from the wrong folks I guess, that that was the way the 1911 was "supposed" to be carried. Thanks again....sorry for...
how 'bout in Shooter when the hot chick shoots her head case captor on the mountain....she takes was is presumably a fully loaded crome plated Beretta Model 92 that the Senator has thrown down, shoots the guy three times and the slide locks back....
Saw something on Field and Stream the other day about great gun movies and got me to thinking about how the movies tend to screw things up...Two come to mind....
The first was in Saving Private Ryan and there are really two screw ups here...the first thing I noticed was that the slackjawed...
There are some decent inexpensive o/u's out there...I had one of the CZ Canvasbacks in 20ga that I had a blast with....but those guns are just not built to shoot a ton...if you're not going to be shooting alot then they might not be a bad option...on the other hand a nice used Remington 1100...
I've got a CZ 527 carbine in 7.62x39 that I was shooting yesterday afternoon when I noticed something. I was sighting the gun in, first using some inexpenisve wolf ammo to get in the zip code before switching to winchester power points which is what i'll be using when I hunt with the rifle. The...
I have a CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39 that I bought for deer hunting in close quarters....Originally I wasn't going to scope this gun I was just going to shoot it open sighted...But I changed my mind and decided I might want to scope it now...I'd really want to maintain most of the quick handling...
