I dont mean a "range finder", I mean a scope with a reticle that will aid in range finding...that would be a nice feature

I know my budget may limit me on this, and I might spend more, but I'd like to keep it reasonable. Hell, I really like the ACOG, but I just can't spend THAT much.

I don't know if you will be able to find anybody who actually has owned and tried both of them for comparison...but I have a VX-I and really like it. Initially I had a problem with it, the magnification ring was unusually hard to turn, so I sent it in to Leupold and they fixed it for free...

I've been wondering what the purpose of the hole on the side of the chamber is for. Its a little hole, on the right side of the rifle, near where the bolt lugs engage...whats this hole for?

I see a ton of rifles with a stock pack on them, but I can't imagine what I would put in it...What do yal put in it?

Actually I just bedded the action last week, also free floated the barrel except for the tip at the fore-end. I went to the range today and although my first shot wasn't perfect, the following shots were not far off.

I really love shooting at the range, but I don't have a dedicated target rifle. Instead, I use my hunting rifle (Remington 700 SPS DM .30-06) with a standard contour barrel that gets hot quick. POI changes slightly after the first cold bore shot, and gets increasingly off as the barrel heats...

Well, I do think OWB would be best, IWB sounds uncomfortable. So now I have to look at my OWB options, which include belt or paddle, right? Also I'm pretty sure I want something with a strap or snap that holds the gun in place; or is this necessary...do the holsters without straps hold the gun...

I know its probably impossible to meet all of the criteria, just pick a rifle that meets as many as possible.

Any recommendations on what type suits my needs best?

I really just don't know what style to get, there are so many different choices, I don't know the differences.
