I don't need or want to hear about ruining this fine old collectible, I can no longer see well enough to use open sights and a weapon you cant use is a decoration. With that said, does anyone have any experience with scopes and mounts on this rifle.....
thanks for all the input. have no fear this rifle will not be modified in anyway, I was just curious and will check into the B square mount. obtw I did find Fed 30-06 at wally world for 14.00 a bx
I recently purchased a really fine example of the 1903a3 springfield rifle. however older eyes aren't handling the peep sights as well as they used to. I see samco sells 03a4 scope mounts, does anyone have experiencewith this modification and what else needs to be done ie bolt bending etc...
In the current economic climate and with obama soon to be in power, I have decided to hang on to most of my bullets, powder, etc and limit my practice shooting to .22 rifle and cheap milsurp ammo. with prices going up almost daily most of us are limited as to how much we can buy
yes I too am proud of the 25 to 45 yard shots that I have made on deer with my mod 29 smith 44 but I didnt spend all that time at the reloading bench and the shooting bench to not take advantage of a long shot opportunity when it arises
I know you want 6mm but dont overlook the 7mm08. If you dont reload, you better compare ammo prices cause .260 are usually very expensive in comparison to 08
shot one yesterday with my m44 and winchester 180 soft points open sights. this gun shoots 6 to eight inch groups with bulgy surp and 2 to 3 inch with winchester
