While my choice is not for everyone it works for me. It started life as an Argintene Mauser in 30-06. It now has Lyman irons plus a
Bushnell 2-6 pistol scope forward mounted. The barrel is 19" and the overall length is 39". She weighs 8lbs 0oz. and her Timney trigger
breaks clean at 4...
I generally spray the parts with hoppes elite, let soak for 10-15min. then
scrub with nylon brush. Spray with some type of action blaster (tetra's at
the moment). Let air dry. Use the same Hoppes Elite for the barrel (I'm not a
1000yd shooter, this works well enough for me)...
vibra-prime, that's the one. Is it strickly hand held or can you mount it to a
bench and let it run while doing something else? I hate picking up primers
with pick-up tubes, but I don't want to waste my money either. Not sure If
I'd be happy with this or should I just save up and by...
I went the other way. Use to carry a SIG 220, but switched to a G 22.
I considered reliability the same with both.
Durability went to the Glock, my gun is exposed to the elements, is carried openly and gets banged against things at times. SIG's finish will look like h*ll in a couple...
Just gotta ask, why are we so worried about a criminals well being? Is your
debate partner taking the stance that the criminal has more of a right to live
than you or I do? As far as I'm concerned, when someone threatens or
initiates violence, then all bets are off and they forfeit...
Glock 7's are made to defeat metal detectors (no such thing), Podbyran?
(again, no such thing) is the most powerful handgun made. That a Desert
Eagle is a good carry gun. Basically anything that comes out of a movie or
video game that is taken as the truth / real training...
might try the Galco Matrix. I have 1 for my SIG220 with front and rear snap
on loops that conceals well. It's not quite as fast as other kydex holsters I
own though.
+1 1911user. If I'm carrying a double stack I carry a surefire 6P next to my
spare mag. If I'm carrying a single stack, sometimes I'll carry 2 mags,
sometimes I'll carry 1 + the light. Just depends what I'm doing, where I'm
going and how I feel that day.
YMMV
You guys realise by reloading in this manner you will be sweeping your muzzle all over the place instead of keeping it down range. It is also much quicker to shover a small object into a larger object (that is at least at the edge of your vision) than placing a larger object over a smaller one...
Sorry I've been away for a while (vacation). thanks for all the responses so
far. I Have been using the SG for the past 8 years or so (when I did have
kids in the house) and it has served me well. I also have extensive
experience with the rifle (thanks uncle sam, plus a lot of...
Tyesai, I started this post with the statment that overpenetration wasn't an
issue in my situation. My situation as stated is home defence with the
possibility of having to check around my house. If you don't think this
situation is realistic then what type of H.D. do you think is? I...
I prefer 155-165gr. premium H.P.'s. Speer Gold Dots at the moment. Don't
even care to try the "extreme shock". I've never heard anything about them
except marketing hype. As for night sights, all those listed above are very
good. Personal preference had me install Heine slant pro...
OK, the general feel is for the shotty. But why choose it over the rifle? What
advantages and or disadvantages does it have over the rifle?
As I said I already have both (and practice with both) so cost and ease of
learning are not an issue.
Just what are the tactical...
I live in a rural setting, over penetration is not a concern. Wife and myself only at home. Handguns are the primary HD guns; 1 for me (with light attached plus seperate bright light), another gun for the lady of the house.
The long gun is for barracade situations, when having to check...
propriatary guns mostly include any with a manual safety (if it is carried ON SAFE).
Modifications? I suppose this would include any addition of a safety to a gun that normally doesn't come with one. i.e. muribato revolver safety (don't know it it is still offered), cominolli safety for...
saw the movie, agree not very good. As to the mode of carry for a
handgun? I think I'll stick to more normal modes. You have to have more
flexability to rotate your hand over your sholder as apposed to your hip; you
will muzzle flash everyone behind and above you when you draw; you...
